To me, it's a sign of a culture unaccustomed to excellence when people have to choose one winning team to support. There is room in this state for more than one good thing. . .we don't have to ration our moral support.

Its not that i don't like the Saints, I just can't seem to get too excited about anything in the NFL.

college football is just unique

I can understand that. . .I just don't get a mentality that says there isn't room for excitement about more than one thing.

Lsu gets close to 200,000 fans around campus for a big game. The saints only gets 67,000

And the Saints also have 30k+ on season ticket waiting list. And i'm sure there were more than 200k at the parade today.

With that said I consider myself a equal fan of both. I think that LSU's recent setbacks in football and the Saints winning the fricking superbowl has some LSU-only fans jealous of the current situation. Get the frick over it. Both teams can be successful at one time or just one can. One is in the NFL, other College.

does that mean 9-3 and 2nd place SEC West finishes are acceptable since we'll have Sundays and Super Bowls to look forward to for the near term/

Will be interesting to see since the football critics will be distracted.

I don't understand why there has to be a competition, but since you brought it up, the Saints are not, in fact, Louisiana's favorite team. I love them as a team and am proud of their success, but the vast majority of Louisianans will always care more about LSU.

At the first sign of a down year (which can happen at any time in the NFL) few people on this board will be talking about the Saints.

When LSU's down, the fan base will still be here. They'll be bitching the whole time, but they'll be here .

Don't take this as a bash on the Saints, because I personally think the comparison is flawed. But College Football is king in the South.

If the Saints have a Patriots-like run, maybe we'll be justified in asking if they are becoming equal.

The question should be: If you have a choice to buy either LSU football tickets or Saints tickets which tickets do buy? LSU always.

...Why do we have ugly devisive threads like this continuously on this board?

Since the Saints have had some recent success, we seem to be getting them daily.

Look, I really don't care for the NFL. I enjoy LSU football. That's me.

However, many LSU fans do enjoy both. It is possible. Both have co-existed together for 40 years.

Saints fans need to enjoy the great accomplishment.

What I don't understand is these devisive posts. When LSU won both national titles, I had absolutely no desire to go to a Saint's board and get opinions to pit Saints against LSU or get digs on the Saints.

IMO, that is rude and disgusting.

Only here is possible to take a positive thing and turn it into an unnecessary argument.

it's called a message board, would you rather be discussing LSU Basketball?
