I got one for you... What has Shep done to live up to the hype?

REC 38 for 288 1TD
RUSH 77 for 503 4TD's
Runs for 50, 30, 41, and 69

Do these stats suck? Remember all of this was with 100+ ranked passing game in the nation.

Everyone needs to give the kid a break. He didn't play WR in high school. He needs time to learn the position. Hell he didn't even play just WR his first year at LSU.

Maybe the hype for shep was a little much coming out of H.S. but you have to see that he is a playmaker and still young.

1) we do not involve him in our play calling as much as we should. I say this because the only way we really got him the ball quick this entire year was by running 1 play(jet sweep).

2) i think that the people who say that he doesn't get open are wrong because i have seen numerous times that he is open but we cannot get him the ball. Then people bring up how he drops passes. Maybe he has a lack of confidence in our QB which in turn could lead to a lack of concentration. Which also maybe due to a lack of experience at the position.

3) Yes, he MIGHT have been overhyped but i find it hard to imagine that very many kids coming right out of H.S. this year will take his spot as our #2 next year like some people are speculating.

Maybe if he was allowed to play what he played his entire life the hype wouldn't be too much. No way you can convince me that he couldn't have thrown 4 touchdowns in 12 games last year. The kid is a super person and changed to a position he's never played before for the good of the team. He's not a WR, but he's doing everything he can to learn the position. He hasn't failed, the staff failed him.

Much appreciated. Now, there's a big time soccer game on ESPN 8 you can catch if you hurry.

Landry is a better receiver than Shep right now. Not a surprise since Shep has played WR for about 16 months while Landry has played it his entire career.

Shep gets limited touches and does well with them. Stats are a problem when you have so many talented guys to get the ball to. He'll get his super star status this year. He also is a great recruiter for us. We have a running QB. I love this guy.

Not obviously. I haven't looked at his stats, but off the top of my head Shep's were better in 09 and '10. I'm not knocking Randle in any way. I think he will be one of the best receivers we've ever had, but this board bashes anyone whose 20 without a heisman. Really, who in the country from that class has done better?

So much fail

Shep would have benefited from a redshirt year but most on this board would have crucified Les and Crowton. The staff hasn't failed him nor has he been a disappointment, he's played in the SEC for 2 years and been productive for God's sakes. He still has 3 years to play 2 lol, let's give him a chance to shine without all the retoric.

Ok, since i agreed with this i will say that i believe it somewhat true because of the lack of variety in the way they get him the ball on a consistent basis. So to change the quote it should be more like he hasn't failed but the offensive scheme in his first two seasons at LSU failed to take full advantage of his skills. That is my only complaint

As far a his position change goes.. HE made the right long term decision.

So this is the deal.

5 star talents go to schools for one reason.....to go to the NFL.

RS NEVER, and I mean NEVER goes to the NFL as a QB.

He made the move to WR...he needs to work hard to be better.

The offense was poor, he was a nice piece of a poor offense as a SOPHOMORE.

Save me the drama, he as not 'failed', he has not been a failure or a bust. He has progressed. He will be a very productive part of our offense next year, with a better more focused attack. By his senior year he will be a force, if he develops his hands, he will go on to make millions in the NFL....all from moves a coaching staff made with him and for him.

He was failed? Sounds like a lot of over dramatic bullshite to me.

Cobi Hamilton Arkansas. Y'all probably best remember him best by "mr. 6 second touchdown".

3* baby.

RS had a much higher percentage of his teams offense than Hamilton did....

Congrats on beating us...made your year it seems.

Well done on defending the SEC honor in the Sugar, you guys have arrived.

Beating LSU made my year? No.

Getting to a BCS bowl for the first time in program history, led by a coach who all sportswriters hate, QB'd by a QB who all teams hate, led by the most underrated WR core in NCAA, while the coach we were told we shouldn't have fired sat at home during bowl season.... That is what made my year.

But beating LSU ( and taking a knee on the 1 yard line to end the game mind you) wasn't bad either.
