Does it make watching the games this year less stressful? During the Auburn game, I found myself not panicing and felt confident we would win.

I didn't feel that confident after the interception returned for a TD. I did feel confident in beating Miss St because that is becoming a gimme game.

Less stressful? You kidding me? I could hear my heart beating from the next room during that 4th quarter.

No, it's because Miles has instilled a "never quit, never panic" attitude to his players. Has nothing to do with us being the defending national champs.

Were not defending anything BTW, to be defending something there has to be a chance of losing it and they can't take it away from us.

I know it's a figure of speech but an inaccurate one and no it's doesn't take any pressure or stress off of watching the games.

So if a boxer was the Heavy weight Champion and he steps into the ring for his next fight, he is no longer defending his title? I don't agree with that.

We are defending/reingning until there is another champion crowned.

No because if we share the championship (undeservedly) this year we will have the USC threepeat i.e Legit, not legit, none at all but still called greatest team on earth.

I think that we now have a belief that Coach Miles and his DAMN STRONG FOOTBALL TEAM are capable of taking care of business, even when they are down. After watching so many heartstoppers last year, we have come to expect the Tigers to pull it off.

It is a great time to be a Tiger!!!

I actually thought I would be a little more calm this season, b/c I was so grateful that the 2007 LSU team had won it all.

Didn't turn out that way, though. I said some things about Ryan Perrilloux at halftime of the Auburn game, that I now realize were over the top. But then, only 4-5 other people heard me.

You're actually wrong, we will FOREVER be the Nc for the 07 football season no matter what happens. That boxer you referenced steps into the ring with the belt on the line if he loses and we lose nothing if we lose.

We are last years NC and we will be 10 years from now as well. Were not defending shite because it's ours and only ours no matter what.

No, and we are not defending. No matter what happens LSU will always be the 2007 National Champions.

Interesting point that I was wondering about myself...
Even though I was going through a slight panic, I was not having a total meltdown(as usual) during the Auburn game when we got behind...I don't know if it is confidence in the heart of our team or a slight relaxation because we won last year.

The difference here is that the boxer is the same man, while the 2008 team is not the 2007 team. 2007 team is the 2007 champions forever.

Defending, returning. It's a matter of semantics. Makes more sense in the pros where there's a realistic chance of "defending" a championship. Witness Patriots, etc. Hard to defend when you've got 3-5 times as many teams to beat down.
