But you do have to earn the opportunity to keep said salary on a year to year basis.

Would I fire him for this season, absolutely not.

So... he is earning it?

But I would mark it down as underachieving

I think even he would tell you the defense's perfromance hasn't been up to his or the program's standards. But he "earned" his salary before this year occurred, which you acknowledge.

no lol

Coaches get fired all the time for not meeting expectations from their past contract.

Miles "earned" a new contract in 2013, then a few years later he didn't.

im sure he would, but no one would expect any different.

dont care how much he gets paid, not my money but he hasn't been producing this year with a championships offense on the other side of the ball.

He earned it when we were scoring hardly any points and winning year after year.

Not totally no.
The picture is bigger than one question.
I don't think that player development as well as recruiting for meaningful depth up front has happened to go along with my "no" answer.
These crazy suspensions are also a factor.

It's incredible how many people are still saying yes.

The salary is the whole issue here.

Dave Aranda is a fine man but he's not producing at a 2.5 million dollar level. If Aranda didn't make 2.5 million per year it wouldn't be a big deal.

How many of you have supported O since he was hired? For those who have, why would you not trust his judgement now with Aranda? If you question Aranda, you’re questioning the guy who made sure we kept him and continues to support him.

Maybe O knows better than you.

LSU ranks 9th in the sec in total defense

This.

And after TAM, we will face potentially 3 very prolific offenses that can match our production.

We need more than a bandaid to fix this D and I'm thinking it may be too late unless MD comes back quickly.

I don't understand why it's so taboo to criticize aranda even a little tiny bit.

I'm personally not judging him any differently than SE last year. Aranda was great His first year, good the next 2 years, and very average this year.

You could apply this to Canada and we know what happened there . . .

FTR, I don't think O would fire his DC at this juncture. But if our D costs us a natty, O is gonna be in a pickle come season end.
