Bottom line is the most important recruiting O can do each year is recruiting his own players to come back for another year. Saban is great at this and I'm sure he shames them into coming back somehow but it works. Since the Miles days the coaches have been way too supportive of encouraging them to go. Some players that are definite top 15 picks then sure, give them that guidance but we need to be putting the full court press on the why the rest should come back just like we are putting the same focus on getting new recruits.

Say what you want, but those players don't leave if they are at Alabama, Clemson, or Ohio St. We have to do a better job of recruiting them to stay. We have been the worst at that in the entire country. If this team had Chase, Vincent, Shelvin, Saahdiq Charles, Lloyd Cushenberry, Thad Moss we would be 3-0.
Every player has an individual choice to make, but we have to do a better job at convincing$$ them to stay.

If the juniors and seniors who would return were going to be good they would be good right now. Time for a youth movement.

100% spot on.... I would bet my house that Stingley doesnt play next year and sits out... they are going to have to curtail that stuff somehow... cause youre basically seeing guys for two years.

only a handful have made objectively bad decisions
Malachi Dupre
Toby Weathersby
Kevin Toliver
Ed Alexander
Thad Moss
The list is long and will soon include Kary Vincent and potentially Tyler Shelvin depending on how far he drops.

Cuz no one has ever improved with time?
Even if you take Burrow as an anomaly, here’s a list of guys that didn’t contribute until or got better asJrs and Srs:
Adrian Magee
Duke Reilly
DJ Chark
Russell Gage
Debo Jones
Austin Deculus (albeit he isnt great)
Myles Brennan
Nick Brosette
Clyde Edwards-Helaire
Matt Flynn
Jacob Hester
Craig Steltz
Brandon Taylor
Curtis Taylor
JaCoby Stevens
Jarvis Landry
I’m sure there are other examples too but players do get better with age and experience.
