Honestly I hope you are right, if it is a blow-out game there are benefits to LSU as well, resting starters, inserting new schemes etc.

It's not really a joke-

1.) Every BCS school plays a couple of cupcakes.
2.) Better to pay McNeese St than a small OOS school
3.) We have 7 or 8 tough games every year

And No, it does NOT make us look bad. Actually, it's pretty smart to schedule one of those teams after Florida or 'Bama, etc. Almost like a bye-week.

Don't have a problem with FBS playing FCS schools, but it should never be counted as a W. Should be looked at like an exhibition. In fact, lets just let schools schedule one exhibition a year like basketball does (usually play a few). Maybe these games should go on the record as such? LSU 8(1)-4, final record.

It's one thing to play ULM to open the year. Get your feet under you, get your confidence up. I am completely against playing Chattanooga State in week 10 though.

I complained when we scheduled Appy State, and I'm going to complain now.

I believe very strongly that I would rather endure the possibility of more losses if it meant more entertaining games. If you're meant to be national champions, you will win them anyway.

I'm tired of seeing us play so many 1-AA teams and lowest tier Division 1 programs. I understand that the SEC schedule is tough. But how many times, 10 years after the fact, did you turn to your kid and say... hey... remember that Citadel game? We had SO much fun!

Don't be afraid to make a few memories. That's what football is all about.

With the way the Tigers have been arse-fricked by the schedule last year (Florida and Bama coming off a bye week) we could use this kid of game....

McNeese St......are you kidding me. Nice job LSU. Yeah I know, brings money into the state, who cares. It is an embarrassment. We might as well throw in Southern and Southeastern while we are at it.

Why pay someone like App. State to come to Tiger Stadium so they can up grade thier facilities? It makes sense to give the money to McNeese and Northwestern and other schools in the state so they can upgrade thier fotball program. LSU will still get the best players in the state. And name me one other school that plays top rank teams on dates that they don't have a conference game. Everybody has 1 maybe 2 tuff out of conference games, the rest are cupcakes. Play the in state schools and give those kids that are just not good enough to play for LSU and has dreamed of playing in Tiger Stadium all thier lives, why not let them enjoy the moment. I'm all for it.

I hate playing the cupcake games too, but it has happened more so with teams going to a 12 game schedule. I said for a while, across the board one of those cupcake games should be scratched to make better room for a 8 team playoff. That won't happen though because of the huge loss of money. The presidents scream about we are looking at for the kids and their health that a playoff system would cause, wbut we went form a 10 game schedule to a 11 game schedule to a 12 game schedule and added in some conference championship games. Yeah they are looking out for the kids.

I disagree with you on the fact that you think LSU will be a laughing stock with Mcneese St on the schedule. I challenge you to find anyone in the top 25 that doesn't have at least one game like that and with UNC and WVU potentially both ranked in the top 25 next season I challenge you to find how many others have 2 OOC games potentially that tough.

It's one thing to play a LaTECH or a ULL, but McNeese freaking State????? That does nothing but bring LSU down in my opinion.

I would be careful bout pissing on McNeese in the same sentence with "ULL" since the Cowboys spanked the Cajuns in Lafayette not long ago.

Did Chattanooga "bring down" Bama or Charleston Southern "bring down" Fla last season?

If we gonna schedule FCS teams, and we do the same as other SEC schools, why not play our own?

One thing about playing in-state games is you don't have the small nusance of listening to "in-state" fans grip about LSU being scared to play them.

When I was in Arkansas, they had legislators look into legally requiring the Razorbacks to play Arkansas St. The U of A's policy was NOT to play an in-state school in any sport.

And if they care, they aren't laughing because all the schools do it. (see above)
