hell, lsu won a nc a few years ago with 2 losses.

They also won the SEC and the only teams with fewer losses were #1 tOSU and Kansas and Hawaii who had horrible schedules. This year Bama finishes no better than tied for 2nd in the west and possibly 3rd. The last week of the 2007 season have been meaningless and boring if there was a playoff. Instead the LSU-UT, Mizzo-OU and WVU-Pitt games all had NC implications.

The jest of the article is that the AD's, coaches, and bowl rep's get boneses for playing in bowl games. They would not get this in a playoff system.

In a plus system, the sec champ would have to play another brutal game after the seccg. Get rid of the seccg and go with the same formula the big 10 and PAC 10 use

Eta, nevermind. Looks like PAC 10 big 10 will be playing championship games

I disagree. If there was an 8 team playoff LSU,OU, and WV are still playing for a playoff spot, while Mizzou is playing for the #1 overall seed and homefield advantage. Looking at the final polls, WV would've actually been knocked out of the playoffs with that loss. It would've been just as interesting, maybe even more so, considering the teams at 9-12 all would've still had hope of making the top 8.

Obviously I am in favor of an 8 team playoff. I think 16 is a little excessive.
