I don't think you would need to go "all in."
Probably wouldn't take much if they want him

I would take Aranda if we can get a legit OC to go with him

I’m guessing that would happen.

Aranda is respected and not an idiot. So, smart enough to hire well and respected enough to take that call.

I wouldn't be opposed to that. He's the antithesis of O, which I'm sure most here want.

A pretty good coach, but his personality is the opposite of O. His dry demeanor is really not a good recruiting tool. With the right staff, I could go with A, but probably not the first choice.

No. There is nothing so far that tells me Aranda can be an elite head coach. It’s crazy to me that people trash the idea of Napier or Fickel then act like Aranda would be such a great pick. I’d take Fickel or Napier over Aranda 100 times over. Who cares if they aren’t the big names like Woodward likes to go after. There aren’t but may 3 or so coaches I’d take over them and none of those are realistic candidates.

What is all in? Like a blank check or something? Let’s not go crazy.

No. He'd probably be a lower tier guy to hire. Tier C maybe? He hasn't proven enough yet and NCAA is dictated by offense right now. I do like a DC hire though to bring back LSU's pride and tradition in defense.

Kiffin smoke is Woody placing that out there intentionally to deflect away from his real targets.

My guess is he tries to bring Grimes along. That would make the most sense. Knows LSU, knows recruiting the area, and has been a successful OC at two schools now.

The only person we should go all in for is Riley.

The second half of the schedule will tell you all you need to know with games against BYU, Texas and OU. Only two coaches I’d take ahead of him are Fickell or Lincoln Riley.
1a Riley
1b Fickell
3 Aranda
4 Kiffin
5 Napier

I would take fickell over Aranda just because he has a more proven track record as HC. However guys like fickell and Napier will have to make a "jump" coming to LSU (Napier more so than fickell). Not all coaches do that well.

If Aranda finishes this season strong he will have experience as a very successful DC at whisky and LSU AND HC experience with a successful record, albeit short. IMO that makes him less of a risk than Napier. Fickell still has a leg up on Aranda imo from an HC perspective.

Maybe Napier or Fickell have a higher ceiling but I feel like they're also riskier. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Everyone looks good to us right now. Just wait, we’ll hire the best candidate.

No.

Aranda is still learning and growing as a young head coach. No need to throw him to the sharks before his time.

Aranda's next stop is probably the B1G.
