if it’s a tie between us and UGA at 7-1 we’d get the edge here

common opponents are Alabama, Florida and Ole Miss.

We have to beat Alabama and Florida to win out and they already lost to Bama.

I’m guessing if LSU wins out and manages to beat A&M in the championship game, they will w/o a doubt make the playoffs as a 2 loss SEC champ.

Anything's possible but I just don't see this team winning out. Hope I'm dead wrong. If they do Baker will have them prepared.

Are these official tiebreakers? BTW, many thanks for posting.

Yes, those are the official tiebreaker rules.

I think with 16 SEC teams and no divisions it is becoming obvious that only 8 SEC games is not enough to really separate teams.

It’s also obvious that the SEC championship game really rewards the winner and the loser will really be punished. They could get knocked out of the playoffs, or lose their seeding and possibly lose a first round home playoff game. They also have to play an extra game.

Now the winner also plays an extra game, but they earn a bye so they save a playoff game.

Would still be LSU A&M unless Ten beats UGA.

7-1 Texas would be in over 7-1 A&M

Sorry, I didn’t clarify. I was meaning if it is a 4 team tie between A&M, Texas, LSU and UGA at 7-1, based on favorites winning the other remaining games. In that scenario it would A&M LSU.

If last week's game were played in Atlanta, LSU would've easily won.

Also, I'd be surprised if A&M goes to SC and wins

You’re still wrong. If Texas is 7-1, that means they beat A&M.

Texas gets in over them

The head-to-head isn't the only tie breaker rule when there are more than one team tied. It will come down to conference opponent record because
LSU beat Bama
Bama Beat UGA
UGA beat Texas
Texas beat A&M
A&M beat LSU

Bama isn’t in the equation because they have 2 losses.
I think head to head record solves the 4 way tie breaker.

It’s Texas vs UGA in this scenario

They are in the equation, because
why would UGA jump LSU if they don't have a head-to-head?

LSU is ahead of UGA because of common conference opponent record
(3-0) vs (2-1).

UGA ahead of Texas because of head-to-head and LSU would have a better conference opponent win percentage than both.

LSU is in.

Now, Texas A&M would be in too:
above head-to-head over LSU
below head-to-head to Texas
Texas below head-to-head to Georgia

We can't use head-to-head for A&M so we move on to common opponent win %, where A&M would be above them.

Because they beat Texas.
Texas is ahead of A&M
A&M is ahead of LSU
