Billy Gillespie would actually be a perfect fit here. He worked wonders at Texas A&M, another school that doesn't give a shite about basketball unless they're winning.

He's an alchi and a poor people's person, but a really good recruiter and coach. He was a terrible fit at Kentucky, where you have to be a greasy tool bag recruiter and glad hand the boosters constantly (see Calipari, John).

Did you read what you wrote? A bad people person is the opposite of what we need here.

Randy Bennett at St. Mary's would be the best hire in my opinion. He's worked wonders at a nobody program, by leaching off of Gonzaga's success in their conference. He's developed under-recruited kids like Omar Samhan, Patty Mills (lighting it up for the Spurs now), and Matthew Dellavadova. He's also got some weird recruiting connection to Australia, which produces decent college basketball talent.

Bennett is a good coach but he's probably a bad fit. Don't see that Aussie connection translating to the SEC.

Les Miles is a great people person.

Just because he speaks awkwardly doesn't mean anything.

I don't really think that LSU basketball needs a glad handing guy like Calipari or Dale Brown. They just need a winner. Winning puts fans in the seats more than being Mr. Community Nice Guy.

I, personally couldn't give a shite if a coach goes to a bunch of middle school and gets kids excited about playing basketball, as long as he wins games.

Getting Aussies to go to Thibodaux works for Nicholls State? Why not here?

He doesn't necessarily have to be the barnstormer that Dale was but he can't be gruff and getting DUIs.

I'm not sure the players will translate. I'm just not comfortable bringing in another career West Coast guy.

If this is the stickied thread, how about a link to info on each or at least a current job title?

Tim Floyd - NO!

Bruce Pearl - no

Johnny Jones - only if we have to

Scott Drew - YES

We need to throw the $$ at him and put LSU basketball in the top tier where it belongs.

You don't have to have a winning tradition to recruit college basketball. More quick turn arounds in basketball than any other college sport (other than Lacrosse).

It only takes 5 players - and a lot of times even less.

j/k about Lacrosse

Tiger Rag is listing the head coach at Pitt - Jamie Dixon - as being on the list.

That would be a slam dunk...just a pipe dream, right? Where did his name come from??? Can 't be serious...?

No doubt they used Tigerdroppings as a source. Pretty horrible reporting.

Jones has had what 1 tournament team in a over a decade at UNT? If he weren't an LSU guy would anyone be clamoring for him?

I'm not for jones, but it's hard to judge one-bid conference schools on NCAA appearances. No matter how good you do, if you don't win your tournament, you stay home.
