No of course not. You don't judge a decision as good or bad based on the outcome of that decision.

The real question should be: did LSU really turndown talks with Saban when he wanted out of the Miami job?
It's rumored that Bertman sabotaged or rejected Saban's return. If true, the doddering niche sport dolt should be pilloried. Just imagine the championships, exposure, money, and sheer joy that myopic, epic folly cost the university and its fans. If true, it's the single worst decision in the history of LSU athletics, worse than turning away Spurrier in the 1980s.
Again, if true.

With the amount of money Shaq has given the school, he can say whatever the frick he wants. It also carries more weight than any of us on a message board.
Be it true or not, the man can say anything and you have to listen
It comes with being shaq

It was never about money.

Let me guess: your sister's first husband's uncle's second wife's oldest nephew knows some body that once worked at LSU heard that in the men's room?
Is that about how good your source is?
But you in all your brilliance choose to believe it because it.

In my post, I included the caveat "if true" no fewer than three times. Obviously, I'm not entirely convinced of the veracity of the rumor. Learn to read, ya' geriatric illiterate.
And the rumor has been repeated ad nauseum on LSU insider and pay boards for years. It's not something I concocted.

You really think any AD would fire a coach that just went 11-2 in favor of someone that left 2 years ago, and by all accounts talked about leaving on an annual basis prior to his eventual departure????? Really?
The only way this happens if someone gets a 2016 Biff style sports almanac to give to Skip.

You're wrong.
There is NO CHANCE LSU gets the rematch in 2011 if they had lost in Tuscaloosa. None.

If the AD had any semblance of intelligence, yes. It didn't require time travel to recognize that Saban was a brilliant coach who was superior to Miles. Bama's AD certainly seemed to understand Saban's value when he paid Saban a ransom to woo him from the pros. I guess he had a secret DeLorean.

A. I am not illiterate.
B. What does exposing your post as a very lame attempt to spread some dirt have to do with my age?
C. Since you knew the rumor was suspect at best why did you chose to use it?
D. Many rumors are repeated "ad nauseum" in many places, why did you chose to sicken us with this one?
Posted on 1/19/16 at 2:05 pm to DmitriKaramazov
Or he just had a clueless coach go 6-6. There's that.

While Saban was at LSU someone asked him about trying the NFL, his comment was something like, "I don't want to coach a bunch of overpaid kids"..... I think he would have stayed had Skip played his cards right.

"Playing your cards right" obviously meant paying 5 mill in 2004. Skip wasn't willing to do that for a coach who has his agent getting large annual salary increases for threatening to leave.

For someone that represents themselves as a staunch supporter of LSU, your disdain for one of the most successful coaches and athletic directors in LSU history is frightening.

No one can honestly say for sure that Saban would have been as successful his second time around at LSU as he has been at bama. Your passion and love for Nick Saban is equally frightening.
From all the stories that have been told here on the rant about what a prick saban was to everyone in the athletic department, I wouldn't blame Bertman at all for not wanting him to return. If the rumor is true.
Posted on 1/19/16 at 2:39 pm to astonvilla
The December 2004 Saban wasn't worth anywhere near that. Think what "could have been" if he'd been coach in '05 with Katrina and Rita. 5-6?
Now the NFL experience and getting beat up in '07 at Alabama helped turn him into what we see now.

Shaq is ballin.
He should have ponied up the other 4 mill.

Saban flirted with NFL teams almost every year he was at LSU.
You might have a reason to hate Skip. This ain't one.
