Was it NOT a shock to anyone when he announced an intention to stay?

He’s definitely getting picked by the end of day 2. Avg third round salary is $800k a year

Your son would have gotten beaten by the LSU team and its QB too. Is your son a loser like you?

I’d bet a grand boutte would have 10td receptions going into the draft from Alabama.

I don’t have a problem with him going.

It’s saying that you were staying, only to reverse AND say he won’t play in the bowl game less than a week before that’s incredibly shitty.

He was probably scolded in a practice and this is his childish tantrum.

Or could be an entirely different situation altogether. Usually suspensions at this time of year are academics related.

Consider this. Boutte's plan all along was to go pro after this year. He gets guidance that his probably position in the draft is lower than what he expected. Makes a decision to return for his Sr. season to attempt to raise his draft status. He sees this as the most appealing alternative.

Then grades come out and he has not maintained his eligibility and is suspended. There is considerable work to do in the class room in order to regain his eligibility.

Now, the decision to stay takes on added academic pressures and he has to provide for his new family as well as carve out time to spend with his newborn, time which will be further limited by additional classes and classwork. Totally changes the landscape of his decision. Decides that a lower probable draft position is more appealing than the alternative and changes his mind to declare for the draft.

This could very easily be a situation in which both decisions made by Boutte were the correct decision for him at the time each of said decisions were made.

At the time the first decision was made, it was the more appealing alternative. Factors changed and the second decision was made as being the more appealing alternative.

As to your assertion that he changed his mind about playing in the bowl game, that decision was made for him, not by him.

WRs kind of depend on the QB to get them the ball when they are open. When you are constantly open but the QB doesn’t get you the ball I’m sure it’s quite frustrating.

I don't think he was constantly open first of all and he played like absolute dog shite during the first 8 games of this season. Even when Daniels did hit him early in the year, he was dropping them.

Not enough body of work to prove his worth. Big mistake imo.

What would another year with JD at QB do to change that?

ood. He should have played in the bowl game last year. No chest, no LSU material.

Wrong. Now he has another year of eligibility to go somewhere that will give him a legit chance to compete for the starting job.

I found it surprising he decided to come back. He just had a kid during the season. That alone would be enough for most to want to get into the real world and make money. I know NIL changes things now, but NIL money and NFL money aren't the same.

He had to make a business decision. JD did not throw him the ball. That’s just fact. I would have kept my chips and moved on as well.

3500+ yards

Boutte had 582

Maybe it's not all on JD

Younger, more enthusiastic, and more talented receivers are on their way. He has already been passed up by the current receiving Corp. Get it through your head: he did not make a difference on or off the field. He was not a factor. Either he didn’t have it anymore or he didn’t want it anymore. In either case, why stay?

No way. Especially with JD coming back. Nothing against JD, he just won’t thrive with him at the helm.

I like how your premise starts with “could be” and smoothly mutates to pretending it’s established fact that he has nothing to do with it at all.

Especially as the timing is off. Most of the academic ineligibility news comes out weeks ago. You know, when the grades actually come in?
