Sense of confusion and disarray in football program greatest since...?

With, Brennen hurt and no replacement with experience, the only parts of the program which seems in good order are WR (including Gilbert) and special teams. Coaching staff on both sides of he ball is a mess. Even recruiting, Orgeron's strong point, is showing signs of concern, although no de-commitments yet.
When Curley was here, we had poor teams, but even then, I don't recall such a sense of overall confusion, lack of direction.

How is recruiting showing falling out? LSU has recruited at this level in years fricking LSU fans man...
As far as this team goes, there is still a lot to like. I mean, we have the 6th most talented roster in the country for Christ's sake. I know that talent doesn't always equal wins (obviously), but you still have to like the direction we're heading.

greatest since...
early 2017
Some of yall have ZERO perspective and a complete inability to accurately remember what happened literally 3 years ago.
After the Troy loss people were apoplectic. MSU had just stomped LSU. Ed and Canada where at odds. So much so that the Goddamn AD had to have a meeting with them. The recruiting class wasn't looking great and it turned out to be the lowest ranked class in 2 decades (which may or may not be part of the reason for this season's struggles). People on here were ABSOLUTELY convinced LSU was falling off a cliff right back to the Hallman days.
Spoiler alert: LSU didn't fall off a cliff and two seasons later had maybe the best season in college football history.
Point being, while this start has definitely been disappointing, the polar mood swings some of yall experience is ridiculous.
"I can't EVER remember things being this bad!!!!".
"What about 2017 and the offseason in 2018?"
"Oh. I forgot about that".

Well, you have every eligible person leaving for even a sniff of a draft and three others just quit on the team, yeah there is gonna be some confusion.

The inexplicable loss of football game does not mean the program is in a state of disarray.
The issues here go well beyond embarrassing losses to two cellar dwellers, but to lack of depth at several positions, serious coaching issues on both sides of the ball (including both coordinators) and a HC who perceived our defense as a team strong point only a week before season. Now we are seeing offers to recruits who were not high on our board originally, which may signal that we anticipate the loss of our primary targets.
This ain't Troy.

Please explain to me how this is worse than Troy. Those offenses were just as dysfunctional as this defense is. Matt Canada was a terrible hire, not to mention the fact that Troy is worse than Missouri. We have the number 4 recruiting class right now... the 2018 recruiting class, which comprises a lot of our roster right now, and was being put together during the Troy debacle, was 15th.
Sounds like you're just a Chicken Little

Recruiting is currently fifth with 7 spots remaining which is second most of the top 5 and 3rd most of the top 10. They still have a shot at two top 15 players (one they will likely get, I doubt Foreman comes but you never know) including the number one player in the country. How has it fallen off again?

It’s the catchy thing to say.

I have learned to wait until season's end to make any earth shaking judgments. Because of our various forms of attrition, LSU is playing like we are on probation with limited schollies. It is a tough situation.

Virtually all of this was present in early 2017. LSU had lost 8 players who where drafted from the previous year's team, along with other key starters. In the 3rd game of the season LSU got smashed by MSU 37-7. The largest margin of victory for MSU in the 100+ year history of the series. Two games later LSU came out with seemingly a completely different offense in the first half vs. Troy as the direction of the HC who was at odds with the OC.LSU's best offensive player, Guice, was hurt. LSU was 3-2, unranked, and about to face ranked Florida and Auburn in back to back games. The great offense Ed touted in the offseason was struggling.
In recruiting, LSU did not have a QB committed nor did one look imminent. The top 5 players in the state were either uncommitted or committed elsewhere (notably Chase). "The talent was drying up!!!!"
The SAME kind of disaster posts as this one were everywhere. In fact, it was MUCH, MUCH worse because in 2017 LSU wasn't coming off a magical, national championship season.
LSU may not have a good season this year. It's entirely possible they don't finish above .500 in this strange year. But dear God, acting like the current situation is some phenomenon not seen in these parts in 3 decades is absurd. People were freaking the F out literally just two years ago

It was way worse when we had Canada and when we lost to Troy.

That's most of us with brains realize this Florida postponement is a blessing in disguise. We can get healthy and hopefully fix the freaking defense! Good news is if the defense can get it's footing they will be playing pissed off the rest of the season!
