If travel dads are teaching the catchers to catch like that today, they don’t need to be coaching in the first place.

Not able to tune in. Is Anderson throwing mainly fastballs or good mix of curveballs tonight?

This pitcher isn't bad at all. Great breaking ball

Tired of these catchers on one knee and the other leg straight. Can’t block shite like that
I use to hate the look/style of it until i did some research on it. Plenty of studies have been done on it. When comparing the “traditional squat” vs the “one knee down squat” all of the metrics, at the MiLB and MLB levels where the stats were taken, are nearly the same. The block rate, stolen base rate, pick off rate etc are all nearly identical.
With one knee down, you’re saving a lot of strain and energy. You’re also already in the blocking position, too. Certain pitch counts and scenarios are great for this stance.
In my opinion, this style of catching is only feasible with high-level baseball. MLB, MiLB, and most D1. You need great pitching for the “one knee” stance to work, or just deploy this stance when you don’t have any runners on/threatening.
I wish this was a more acceptable stance when i was playing. Could have save years on my knees ;)
