The only play I really felt like he had a good gripe, was when we got that PF call when Randle got hit after that incompletion
After watching the replays today it did indeed look like a late hit, during the game, not so much.

That was a good call.

The Defensive back hit a defenseless receiver well after the ball had passed incomplete. The referees are watching it closer this year.

I think he is "an irrational hothead when things don't go his way" and was just working the ref so Mullen would get the next close call...

considering they got away with a blatant PI on the 2 yard line by the bama bangs MLB on a 3rd and goal, he should be happy.

ESPN keeps showing that play as part of its highlight reel... not as a pass interference no-call but as an example of MSU's tough defense.

I'm not saying it wasn't late; but if it happened the other way, I would've been pissed.

Kelly is 1000x worse but Merlins is on the fast track to catch him. Pelini had that one shameful doofus meltdown but has since been under control so he's slipping out of the nutball coach conversation.

I'm starting to think Notre Dame is cursed.

The guy is barely losing to the #3 ranked team and would be one of the biggest wins for his program and him as a coach. EVERY major coach would be on that ref, each in their own way.

I think we have grown accustomed to Les'understated approach (which I like). Saban/Pellini would have acted more like Mullen.

Why? The ref's whistle was to alert that the ball was in play. The ref has to hold the ball til subs are made, chains are moved, etc. He then blows the whistle alerting the play is active.

That's no excuse for the O line to start to block before the ball is snapped.
Exactly, I couldn't figure out why people found this so hard to understand.

yeah as bama bangs flails to the turf with his chin strap over his eyes. It was blind luck that they got a no call there. They also got a full yard in their direction on seemingly every spot last night.

from his angle, it looked like the DB was all over the receiver.

But he wasn't

Claiborne's helmet was out in front of the WR's...so the defender really had the advantage on the ball, no way an official can call that with that kind of position on the ball.

I'm having a hard time deciding who's more of a constant embarrassment on the sidelines: Mullen or Brian Kelley.

Its Kelley by a country mile.

I think he realized that getting the next couple of calls may have been the only chance his team had.

I wouldn't call losing by 13, when with 6 mins left Lsu intentionally runs up the gut three times vs 10 in the box to go for a field goal instead of another TD against a crumbling defense barely losing. Or having to take out your starting Qb because Lsu had his shite on lockdown "barely". Barely losing would have been the 3.5 point spread. Our defense took over at the end of the game, and when we were up 9-6, I said to my wife, it's over. You could see that Relf was done, random Rb had a few nice runs, but nothing special, and most imporantly, our secondary really came out in the second half. Miss St vs Auburn is barely losing, not last night's game.

he had no legit gripe. the whistle was blown to start the playclock, it was not an inadvertent whistle. if you rewatch, you will see the whistle coincided with the ref moving off of the ball, they were just jumpy

They needed to put a block over his face on TV. It was really obvious how many F-bombs he was dropping. The kids at the watch party kept asking us what we were laughing at. Mullen has a bad temper.
