Well, even if we placed 1st in the 4X1 we still would have come in 2nd overall to FL

Kristina Davis did not start in the 200. She could have picked up a few points. I wonder what happened there?

Yeah, and I can't find a point anywhere the ladies scored that isn't coming back. The boy are young, too, but not like the ladies.

Exactly, and Tenaya Jones won't have any threats because the two that finished ahead of her were seniors.

Unless LSU does not offer, no way Malia Cali goes to a distant powerhouse. She bleeds purple and gold and has an LSU "Geaux Tigers" license plate bracket on the car she drives! She will be a senior this year at St. Thomas Aquinas and has already set state records (all classes) for distance events. Not bad for a 2A school track member.

Theres a difference between "bleeding" a schools colors and going where you will get the best coaching in the world to improve to become the best in the world

Where does one get information on LSU track? I.E....scholarship information, brochures etc..I know that my kid wants to stay in track and go to college. Look at the State Championship for 4A track. Jason Lee Northside, Lafayette. Hell, look back all year since last summer. Boy can motor.

Your kid is fast. If he wants to go to LSU, he shouldn't expect a full ride. Maybe books +room/board. Other programs will probably offer more money, but those are options your family has to weigh on its own. Getting more money to go to a less presitigious school with the chance to contribute right away vs. getting some money at LSU, working hard for 1-2 years then contributing at conference and beyond for the chance to win team titles. Neither choice is bad, nor are those the only factors you should consider.

Have your kid go here LSU Track and fill out the "Recruit Questionnaire" on the right sidebar. Also, it probably wouldn't hurt for him to email some of the coaches on his own. Coaches can't initiate contact yet, but can reply to emails, answer phone calls, etc. The track team has 12.6 scholarships to spread around a 30+ man travel roster. This means that unless a recruit is in the national top 10 of his particular event, he shouldn't expect much $$$ from major programs. It is up to the recruit to prove to the coaching staff why he should get a spot on the team/why he should get money.

Unfortunately Louisiana isn't the ideal place for distance running....we get one or two good kids every few years... in college or high school

Look at our school records. Not many schools have the talent we have had come through here. It is a sad excuse to blame the weather. We aren't going to get ten 9-flat 2 milers every year, but look at the Houston area, teeming with talent. We could have 2-3 9:30 kids coming out of HS each year run for LSU and we would build a very solid distance team that could qualify in cross and contribute in at least conference and regionals in track. I think what we have is a problem with the distance coaching. I think Elliot just doesn't care. It is time for LSU to move on past Elliot and get a new, younger guy with some fire. If you wanna keep Elliot on the payroll to recruit the Caribbean do so, but don't do it at the expense of the team. 2-3 points in the 15, 3kSt, 5k, and 10k can add up quick in tight meets. It is time to hire a new distance coach.
