Well, his first two years in the league the guy wasn't hitting anywhere near that. He got called up because he was seen as a defensive player. He wasn't even a legit offensive threat while at LSU. He was a decent .300-.320 hitter if I remember correctly.

Yeah, they hit a two-run homer in the top of the 8th. Rice has a runner on 3rd with two out in the bottom of the 8th, though.

This umpire is atrocious. Thats 3 pitches that Byrd has painted the corners with and not gotten the call.
