The ladies seem to be cooling off from their great start to the season.

I've said it before, she has swing more like you see in baseball rather than softball.

All good hitters in softball swing like baseball players. The only thing that should be considered a "softball swing" is slapping.

Man what has happened to this team? I know the SEC is very strong but something just seems to be off with them. Maybe they burned themselves out early in the year.

Our two freshmen pitchers are just that...freshmen pitchers. They just are not quite ready for prime time. The Tennessee coach summed it up with this, "our players just shortened their swing and went after the first pitch. LSU pitchers did not adjust." That's because they're freshmen.

It's true that they're freshmen and they'll make some freshman mistakes, but our head coach was a stand out pitcher in college. You'd think that she'd recognize what the UT hitters were doing and advise our pitchers accordingly.

One thing that's so frustrating about this team is that it's the umpteenth that we'd had the lead and couldn't hold it. We had our chances, but we just couldn't take advantage. I think that 6 of UT's 7 runs came with 2 outs.

The team has a week to rest and Beth needs to work her magic and somehow get their mojo back. This looks eerily similar to what happened to the gymnastics team. They dominated for most of the year but performed poorly at the SEC championships and ended up making an early exit in the postseason.

Great analogy and I agree feels eerily similar. You want to be peaking at this point and unfortunately we are not we have now lost our last 6 out of 9. Not the way you want to be playing heading into post season. I hope they find a spark and find it quickly.

From LouisianaLonghorn: Just another flat out choke job. And to think that this team began the season with such promise. Nothing I'm seeing tonight leads me to believe that this team will make it out of a regional.

If you want to see a choke job year in and year out, just graze on over to the 40 acres and see that dumpster fire at McCombs Field by Texas softball each year. They even had Christa Williams and Cat Osterman and couldn't win it all. They falter constantly each year and nothing changes.

I would much rather have our players and coaches than the ones in Austin any day of the week.

I was there when Cat was pitching. She was a once in a lifetime type of player. She mowed down batter after batter but they didn't give her enough run support once they got to the WCWS.

Everyone was disappointed including the girls and the coaching staff for sure. It has been such a great run up till the last few weeks that everyone is ion the dumps.

I just look at the ages and talent of this group realizing that they will make many fans very happy if not now, maybe in a week or so, to next year. They are doing too many things right, have stiff competition and need to regain momentum and confidence. It was our ladies smiles in the dugout when we were winning by a deuce. Let's bring IT back!

What the casual fans don't understand is that this team is actually a bit AHEAD of schedule. In the grand scheme of things, next year was really projected to be the big break-out year. This is year 4 for Torina and she basically has her system, program, and players all in place for the first full year. There is a lot of youth in key spots, especially the circle, and this year was supposed to be a "warm-up" for next year. Well, as it turns out, this group caught fire early and really was playing great ball. They have caught some misfortune at the end, along with playing very good teams, and they have lost a few games.

If one will take a step back, one would realize that this program is in great shape for the future. Only 3 seniors depart, and 2 of them are role players, at best. A great recruiting class is coming in. This year's team has achieved great things so far and is set up for the long run. We will be disappointed, for sure, if they fall short of the WCWS, but there is nothing wrong with the team at all.

Very good post and spot on. I think that we doing very well overall and am more than pleased with where we are. We will continue to get better and be a huge factor in the conference and championship race for years to come.

Torina has developed and created a different atmosphere surrounding this program. That has been attracting elite talent we have in the next few classes. It will only get better, once people see the talent we have coming in. Shemiah Sanchez, Amber Serret, and Taylor Satchell will all be players that will step in and see the field next year.

Nobody is writing off this year…it is just important to look at the big picture. If this year's team was full of seniors and this was supposed to be "THE year", and then the team fell off at the end, then there would be cause for concern.

That isn't the case though. This year is the continuation of the trip toward the top. The team made it to the last game of the regional last year. The hope for this year is that they can go further and continue the upward trend. I think it is very important that this group at least win the regional.

Last year's team had a great run at the end of the regular season….but they played 3 of the worst teams in the league to close the schedule (South Carolina, Ole Miss, Miss. St.)

This year, LSU closed at Missouri and home to Auburn. Much tougher.

I am very happy with where this program is. I hope the week off, along with completing finals, will help refresh the team a bit. I don't know who is coming to the regional, but it can't possibly be any tougher than playing in the SEC all year. I think we are ready.

when you see what clint Meyers do what he is doing at auburn, in only his 2nd yr that kinda hurts, I have also noticed that our girls swing at a lot of bad pitches, need to be more disciplined at the plate

It's true that we are young, but so are Tennessee and Auburn.

Tennessee is actually younger than we are. They only have 2 seniors.
