You (or someone) said it’s “illegal” to touch the ball while out of bounds. In football, “illegal” suggests or implies that it’s something that is penalized.

This is the problem, until there is actually a way to hold refs accountable they are always going to just defend their position.

Go to YouTube and check out the 2012 SEC championship of Ga vs Bama. The play where Aaron Murray throws a pick. Watch how flagrant the Preston Dial hit is on Murray during the return. Ear holes a defenseless Murray. IMO, worse than the pf by UCF on the Burrow pick 6 in the fiesta. No flag. Dude should’ve been ejected and missed the first half of the NC game, but the SEC would never have done that to Bama.
But I digress.
SEC officiating has been arse for 20+ years.

that being said, was our punter lined up too close to those three blockers?
Not to mention, he punted a line drive.

No. but he took his sweet arse time getting the punt off. I noticed it as it was happening, wondering why is he going so slow.
If you're going to take 3 steps to get a punt off, then the first step has to happen as you are catching the ball, which is what he did on his first punt of the day. The next two punts he took his sweet arse time catching the ball, then slowly taking his 3 steps to punt. He almost kicked the upback in the arse on the punt before he got blocked, and he shoudln't be that close to them, which is why the 3rd punt was able to be blocked.

Yes, if they come back in bounds though. If it were illegal to touch a live ball while out of bounds, then every incomplete pass where a player comes down out of bounds would be a penalty.

Hopefully they will work with the punter on side stepping or taking a different path or angle to punt in these situations.

SEC said the blocked punt was legal b/c the South Carolina player leaped outside the framework (between the shoulder pads) of the shield player.
With 3 guys lined up side by side doesn't it make this impossible unless you were to either side of the entire 3 man wall?

Again, yes, but in this case the illegality of the situation is only because the player is back in bounds.
I’m not a rules expert but I cannot think of a scenario where it is illegal for a player to touch a ball while out of bounds.

The SEC office is full of slimy cocksuckers who will never admit any wrong.
Greg Stankey & Mark Womack are Bama homers & are the cult leaders.
I wonder if Herb Vincent has joined the Bama cult, or is he still a decent SEC administrator?

LSU's punter isn't very good. I wouldn't be surprised if he lines up a little closer than he should to try to squeeze a few extra yards of field position out of his punts.

Yes, it’s impossible unless they left a gap in the wall as wide as the defender’s body, which it clearly was not.

Let me ask the Special Teams Coordinator.

The way the sec responds to these things is pure arrogance. They know everyone knows they are lying and they couldn’t care less.
