Every conference needs to hire officials from outside their conference.Of course with the big 2 being so spread out it would be difficult. The SEC has to not allow officials with state affiliations work their games.ALA is notorious for hometown refs doing their games,Ritter totally lacked integrity and had no character and blatantly cheated ,POS.Gautreau should never do a LSU game and anyone who played for or affiliated with a SEC program should work a game in this conference for those schools.Unfortunatly this is Sankey Trump card for coaches he doesn’t like.

It's no different than the legal and logical fact that a judge recuse themselves when they have a past interest or connection to a case. A journalist who is narrating a game for a team he played on is one thing. But a referee who is making split second decisions on penalties, yards, points and the very outcome of a game, is entirely different, and should NOT even be considered, much less allowed!
While in theory you would like to hope or believe that a human could/would "possibly" remain unbiased; the fact in/of reality is that with mere people (whom none are perfect) it is practically impossible to remain impartial! '
Which is why in legal court proceedings where logical, even biblical rules apply to protect/preserve one's rights/freedom to fair, unbiased trial; justice demands that a "judge" (and even attorneys) must recuse themselves where any "conflict of interest" exists!

It’s absolutely insane anyone that has went to an sec school would be allowed to ref a game in the sec

I am as diehard of an LSU fan as there is and I personally know David Smith. He is as straight forward and honest as it comes. What you people don’t realize is that the white hat is not the one calling the penalty unless it’s a foul against the QB or offensive holding. There are 7 other officials on the field and they call the vast majority of the fouls. The white hat just reports the foul. The SEC and other conferences have rules in place that prevent an official from calling a game at a school he attended or has family members attending. You should quit attacking the integrity of these officials unless you have facts to back it up. But then it wouldn’t be a rant page if that happened.
