Let's start with 2004 at Auburn, got fuked on Ronnie prude xt pt. 2005 no issues at bama from what I can recall. 2006 pass int no called at auburn. 2007 a shitload if penalties called on at bama. 2008 nothing to speak of at auburn. 2009 got screwed at bama. 2010 no much at auburn. 4 out of seven isn't good.

Oh great, we have the SEC office in Alabama and we have the head SEC ref who is a Bama alumni..
this can't be good-at all...LSU has been jammed so many times in that state..
Wait, so you don't realize that Rogers Redding's brother works for and was hired by Saban at Alabama?
Posted on 10/10/11 at 8:00 am to DamnStrong
unless it was vs alabama, it would been called the same.
amirite?

If the head official stated that penalties will be selectively enforced based on the game situation he should be immediately fired.
Posted on 10/10/11 at 8:13 am to DamnStrong
That's really, really shitty that the head ref would say that.
Talk about a lack of professionalism. Slive should give him a "a good talking to"
frick sec officials, in all sports

hopefully he's supporting the ref publically but told him in private that in the future the player better be fricking moonwalking and doing cartwheels before they pull that flag.

doesn't sound like that's the case at all.. it sounds like it's a call based almost entirely on the judgement of a ref that can end up changing the game..

Wow. This should be a national story if that was said.

SEC Office, nothing to see here move along

Actually the statement makes sense to me. Sounds like he is saying it's a crappy rule and we aren't gonna let it determine a very tight game

You know how you do that? Don't call the fricking thing.

As shown Saturday it's simply a terrible rule which is just asking for trouble.
Should be a 15 yard penalty assessed on the PAT or kick off.
this. the intent may be a good one, but enforcing this rule is a keg of dynamite waiting to explode. some bama loving jerkoff ref from hooterville, alabama is gonna frick somebody one day with this rule. giving a refs more power to selectively take points off the board on a judgement call is wrong, wrong, wrong!

I'm more concerned with the Bama game too. I am still pissed about the PP interception call from 2009.

I say LSU officially petition B'ham to get PAC-12 refs for the Nov 5th game.

if it's a penalty it's a penalty
True.
If it's in the rule book, call it by the way the rule is stated. According to the way the rule is stated, the team is penalized at the point of the infraction, therefore it negates the TD. The same as would a block in the back or a holding.
But don't not make a call just because of the chances of it affecting the outcome of the game. As an official would you not call holding if it was to cause a change in the outcome of the game?
If it's a bad rule, change the rule, but it is the officials' job to call the game according to the rules.

had the fake punt occurred in a "17-14 game in the 4th quarter", that punter Brad Wing would not have been flagged, but would have been given a good talking to by the officials
Actually, I believe this is probably true. Unless SEC officials are completely insane. It was still a bullshite call on Saturday.

I'm more concerned that SEC officials get all the calls right in Tuscaloosa on 11/5. History says that they won't.

I think in the opinions of referees across all sports if it is crunch time and it is a questionable call then you swallow the whistle. No ref wants to be the subject of a week of bashing, because they called a ticky-tack penality that cost one team the game.
The problem with this penalty is that unlike any other penalty that can take points off the board, this one gives no advantage to the team committing the penalty.

I think most officials call real close ones according to the situation, and I completely agree with that, especially if it doesn't affect the outcome of the play in a close game.
