Where the frick was this guy the last 10 years? The SEC has blatantly protected the teams they thought were best or were undefeated at a certain stage of the season. It is a lot better to have two BCS teams than one.

I don't think the SEC champ will ever be left out of the 4 team playoff. But, if that is a consideration the officiating will only get worse.

I've been saying for a LONG time the SEC HQ needs to move from the land of Gump. Until then you'll NEVER have fair and impartial treatment.

Two weeks ago, the officials at the Auburn-Mississippi State game were noticeably talking to someone, somewhere over their communications system at Davis Wade Stadium, who gave them information to pick up a flag for intentional grounding. It was an absolute farce.

Did they get the call right? As an official, the only thing that should piss Mike Pereria off, is if they picked up the flag and should not have.

It sounds like they are possibly using replay in cases where the rule book does not allow it. If they are doing this, and the officials are getting the call right, should we really complain?

As I read Pereira's essay, he's not insinuating that a man upstairs is ordering the officials downstairs to make bad calls that rig the outcome of the game. He's saying that the upstairs official is not only ruling on reviewable calls (his job), but also on non-reviewable calls (like personal fouls or whether the QB throws the ball when beyond the LOS). He thinks this ruins the purity and integrity of the officiating and violates the rules of the game. He obviously feels like the officials ought to be qualified to make those calls on the field, and if there not than they shouldn't be out there. He actually said that in regard to whether Prescott threw while beyond the LOS in the Miss State-Auburn game, the correct call was made after the field officials talked with the upstairs officials. He just takes issue with how it was made, as well as the fact that the SEC is denying that this kind of communication is happening.

a mystery man. I’m not sure where he is, but he’s providing information to the officials on the field. If the SEC denies it, they’re not telling the truth.
Clearly, it's Saban.

I'm willing to believe anything regarding SEC refs after watching the AU game in 2006. It was blatant and the refs totally controlled that game.

We all know this shite as being going on for decades and if you get old timers drunk at the hunting clubs in Bama they will admit it. It is just that the rest of the world is now starting to get it too.

They get instruction from off the field in real time. You can bet on that.

I too, would like to see the SEC HQ moved every 4 years to a different school. What is it, desk & a few phones...

I would also like to find out, how many ref"s come from ALABAMA.

Alabama never gets called for "holding".

Seems the only game last year that was called correctly was the ALA, AUBURN game... guess both teams came from ALABAMA

We are going to need video of this "Egregious Officiating Offense" before we can just accept this guys opinion of what he did not see but assumes to be happening.

I don't think there should be any non-reviewable calls. Screw the integrity of the officiating. I don't care one bit about that. Get it right. Keep it fare to the competitors.

Growing up can be a bitch...mostly because the older one gets, the more institutions are disrobed...I no longer respect any institutions...and certainly the NCAA and SEC are among that number...add that to the churches, schools, governments, law enforcement, military, etc...in fact, history has proven all of them to be such every time! So, join the club and bitch about it,,but just don't expect anything to change, except for the worse...until the big reset!

I read it but didn't need to read it to know SEC officiating is corrupt. It's been obvious for years. Alabama goes whole years with no offensive holding calls. When it comes down to critical times in a game a call will almost never go against them. The lone exception being the 9-6 LSU victory a few years back. Before that game there was such a storm of criticism of the bias favoring Bama that with the eyes of the country on them, the refs couldn't work their usual magic. It's very important for the integrity of the league that this bias is kept in the national light until changes are made.

REMEMBER THE DIVOT!!!!!!

like a lot of other posters, I think SEC HQ needs to be moved out of Birmingham...

AND:

double blind selection of officiating crews; first draw the game for order of selection, then draw the crew...you do it like the lottery

fire Rogers Redding

if the HQ is to stay in Birmingham, put employment quotas in...can't be all gumps and barners...
