SEC needs to take a hard look at the new ACC schedule format where they do away with divisions and use 3-5-5 format. You would have 8 SEC games each year. Three permanent opponents and rotate the other five every year. Hence, you play every team at least every other year. Alternate home and away means you would have a home game against every SEC team at least every four years.

Do not look to the ACC for football recommendations.

Wont we have 16 teams in a few years?

If so the 3-5-5 format won’t work.

The 3-6 format was the most popular during sec summer media or whatever the frick they called it. It would be the same format you’re describing here.

Would just have to play 9 conf games instead of 8.

I get it that most coaches don't want it but with 16 teams, I'd like to see a 9 game conference schedule.

With 16 teams doesn’t it need to be 3-6-6?

Perfect nine game SEC schedule and 3 non. The three fixed games could absorb the rivalries and still free up three games. Games like Texas-Oklahoma, Alabama-Auburn, Ole Miss-Miss State, Tennessee-Vanderbilt, Florida-Georgia can just be one one the three fixed opponents .

If we get 3 permanent SEC opponents, LSU needs A&M Ole Miss and Bama.

If Bama is too chicken shite to have LSU Tennessee and Auburn then ok drop them for Arkansas or Florida. We’ll still see every conference opponent twice in a four year period. This is absolutely the scheduling model to follow. Can’t preserve every single rivalry but honestly nothing is wrong with going only two seasons without seeing 1 team.
