Oh Lord … I assumed this was an intentional troll post, but you’ve been here since 2021.

Can’t be debated? Current coach won championship Natty in year 2. Enjoy your arbitrarily chosen past ‘17 years’ of SEC championship and Men’s dominance and yet not shite else to show for it. And repeated failure to even make the tournament.

Were you just born stupid??? You probably hate Jay Johnson too.

Where are your season tickets located? I’ll go visit you tonight and the next home game. Retard.

17 years seems like an odd sample size. Why not just go with 20 years?

Women really dont care much about SEC championships. NC is the goal and seeding.

This is such a terrible take. "Championship or bust" Durrrrrr.

So every season without a national title is a failure, huh?

And they say numbers don't lie.

Interesting stat. Does this indicate it is easier to win a natty than an sec title for the women?

Only losers say this

Are Jay and Kim Mulkey losers? They coach for seeding, period.
They coach for a Top 8 national seed in baseball or a top 4 sec finish in basketball, to get the double bye.
Listen to them talk all season. Why do you think Johnson holds pitchers in the SEC tournament? Why do you think Mulkey shuts them down in the SEC tournament?
Only coaches like CPM put too much weight on it. Today with max effort pitching, for example, and managing through all of that in a late season grind, makes you manage different. The same thing for having fresh legs for the Tournament.
So baseball didn’t win the SEC or Tourney since 2017 and have won 2 titles. In 2017, LSU lost to UF in the finals where Walker could have damn near guaranteed a win. During the SEC tournament or just before he started having arm soreness. He worked through Oregon State only to not be able to finish in Omaha. I don't lump the tournament in with the regular season. The tournament is not on the same level.

But every coach worth their salt wants to win the regular season conference crown. Neither Jay, nor Kim, is trying to lose the conference games. It's a nice sound bite after a loss "I just want to be a top 4 seed", but reality is our LSU women's teams have not been good enough to win the SEC title. Jay's 2023 team under performed in the regular season. In no way should they have not won the SEC regular season championship that year. The 2025 team is different because we now have 16 teams and Texas was gifted the generous schedule.

I have long mocked Mainieri's passion for the SEC Tournament. I am speaking of the SEC regular season title. LSU has won 8 national titles in baseball. They won the SEC regular season title in 5 of the 6 that Skip and Paul coached. Jay has yet to win a SEC title. When you have the best team, you should win the regular season title.

Not a single coach ever defines their seasons as "national title or bust". It would make them failures in of almost all of the seasons they coach.

Their objective is to win the national title knowing full well they won’t win every game, especially in baseball. They all coach to position themselves in the best seeding position. If they win the SEC regular season, great. If they don’t, so what. Today isn’t the 90’s where the pool was much smaller as were the number of participants in the conference AND the tournaments. They both expanded for a reason.
