With our D? Nah. Those numbers are fine.

So 50% is good to you? I understand it’s the first scrimmage with a new offense and new players. All I said was 26/50 as a QB unit isn’t great, and everyone is up in arms about that. It’s fine I’m not worried, just thought the percentage would be a little bit better.

Had the QBs thrown for 60%-70% today then people would be bitching about our defense especially the secondary.

Yea we have a real good D and they are likely ahead. What I would want to know are numbers on passing on key downs, drops, etc.

You’re 100% right. I may have been a little quick to jump the gun. All I saw and thought about was 26/50 from the QB’s.

That’s not the point. The point is you made a claim that was false. It’s the first scrimmage and I’ve better things to do then get freaked out by a “controlled” scrimmage. Things will improve, no worries my man.

How so? For voicing an opinion, that is valid. I’m questioning QB’s accuracy when they go 26/50.

I would have more of a problem with lower ypc and interceptions than completion %.
Some incompletions can be smart if they were workin on redzone pass plays. If online struggled some could have been smart incompletions as well. And not to mention one thing we do know is we have a good secondary and defense overall.
Just have to let it play out.

Just admit that you made a both silly and inaccurate remark, and move on. God damn man! Are you one of those people who will fight to death rather than admit being wrong?

We all get what you're saying in a general sense. And most of us probably are kind of on the same page. You just worded it in a way that was flat out wrong.

Average yards per completion is just as important as completion rate. I remember a certain QB in the past that couldn't throw very well but everyone fought for him given his completion rate without mentioning that he tucked the ball and ran it every time he failed to make a read or knew he was too late for the proper timing.

Let's not become obsessed with a Mr. Checkdown , as that will result in 3 an outs just as fast as 2 yard runs up the middle

I’d like to see third downs converted and wide receiver stats of thrown to and drops to give a better assessment of the QBs.

My thoughts are McMillian probably started the game and was able to get 2 of his completions real quick. Brennan probably got lit up and was sacked the most considering his passing attempts.

These stats mean very little without knowing the situation or which defensive personnel they went up against.

O said we gave up too many sacks. Hoping the defense has more to do with that than the o-line, but hey-first scrimmage.
That's always the debate with scrimmages (and spring games)... is one side of the ball that good, or it the other side that bad.

I've learned from past experience it is usually both.

So my takeaway from anything lopsided, in this case defense over offense, that the D is indeed good and the O is indeed struggling.

It's not one or the other, it is usually both.

And a kicker who made 95% of his kicks. With elite D and much improved ST’s I think Ensminger needs to be real careful about opening things up too much. We have weapons at WR and CEH & Provens are weapons n screen game. I want to see a lot of bubbles to wr’s, RB screens n the flats, read option packages with LN. without putting to much stress on the D E can get the ball to playmakers. Aranda will keep teams from scoring if we win field position, don’t turn ball over and have a consistent fg kicker.
