Etling threw a screen pass to Guice in the 2nd quarter, where he had to shift over a step and change his release point to get the ball to Derrius. The play ended up going all the way down to the 1 yard line.

I can't help but think that Brandon Harris would not have made that play because he doesn't seem to be able to make plays in tight spaces where there are lots of bodies flying around. I think that was a great example of how Etling will fit our offense better than BH. Those types of long handoff plays require the QB to improvise and show a deft touch and accuracy.

It was a great call. Their DL was killing our OL with the bull rush.

And yes, I don't think Harris's touch is that good on short flicks like that. He usually breaks LFs fingers

6/14, 100 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.

That's the best game (QBR wise) that Danny Etling has ever had in his career. Let it sink in.

True, but there were drops and long passes to bring down those numbers. He was efficient on the short and intermediate routes and made good decisions, which Harris was unable to do

Better than both of Harris starts this year. Let that sink in.

12 combined plays in 1st quarter of both games this year as well. 4 straight 3 and outs.

LSU- The only school in the country to talk about how to "complete a screen pass"

Im trying to think of a pass that BH is capable of throwing. His footwork is so bad that he is killing his chances of completing any pass from the start. He has no idea what a pocket is much less how to move in one.

When the ball hits a receiver's hands, and then falls to the ground... what do you call it? I sure as hell don't call it a catch.

I nearly fell off the couch. I've been thinking for years that the screen was just not part of our offense or that we never could get the timing down or that our o-line tipped off the defense or whatever. Then we run a flawless screen play for a huge gain. That one play more than any other in the 2nd quarter highlighted the difference between Harris and Etling.

Is Etling the quarterback we wish were starting at LSU? Probably not. That guy is playing for Alabama, or Michigan, or Florida State. Among the guys who are available, has he shown the most promise? That's really the question, and your snide, but ultimately meaningless, posts really miss the point.

Who Harris? You better go check out some film. Harris is pretty bad on short dish passes to the back.
