He’s been here a year and a half. I’ll be fair here, there are issues that need to be resolved quickly but to say after a year and a half is pretty ridiculous.
If he does nothing (after this season ends) and the state of the program stays like it currently is, then I’ll agree.

Wow. A lot of people care about it.
So Mulkey just decided on a whim to leave Baylor where she won three national championships. Just fell into his lap, huh?

Orgeron had a bad first full year.
Second should have been 10-2 but was called 9-3 (A&M debacle) with NY6 win.
Third was Perfect GOAT Heisman STTDB Season.
Big Name Brian is regressing.

And the program that Orgeron took over was in the same shape as what he left BK - Right?

Recruiting in WBB and college baseball is totally different than college football. Most of the country could give two shits about college baseball and WBB.

I don’t think any truthful human likes recruiting.
Some hide it better. But stroking the egos of 18 year olds that most likely flame out must be exhausting

The difference between being good and great is that the great ones do the things they do not like to do very well.
Does Kelly view himself as being above some of the essential things needed to build a championship program?

Who should Woodward have hired instead? He would be crucified as cheap and unimaginative with Napier in Baton Rouge with the same record or worse. Napier is a solid recruiter who has not shown over 15 games that he can actually coach in the SEC.
Aranda? Speaking of terrible recruiters. Jimbo? Yeah everybody loves him. Mel Tucker? Worse than Orgeron. Lincoln Riley is probably the only guy interested in leaving his job who everyone would have welcomed. You weren't getting him. Kelly was the best realistic choice.

I bet BK thought the old saying that "LSU recruits itself" was somewhat true. The problem is that the SEC has so many programs with ties to LA that can come in and steal recruits if you aren't aggressive. Now NIL is here and on top of that OU and TX are joining the SEC which gives them a recruiting boost along with their resources at hand.
To recruit in the SEC you have to be willing to get your hands dirty and be relentless. If BK isn't that guy, he better have a top recruiting staff and he can be the closer. Outside Frank, we don't have any coaches with a recruiting pedigree.

The root cause is Woodward. He’s never coached a down of football or any other sport for that matter. He’s not the coach whisperer everybody has built him up to be. Mulkey wanted to come home for her last run no matter who the AD was. That was a no brainer and just a matter of getting the money right. Jay Johnson was likely a fluke. Kelly will prove to be a flat-out bad hire. I don’t think we can afford, financially, to dump Kelly for at least another 4-5 years so we may as well find something to love about that guy. Whatever happens in the coming years, with Woodward driving the bus…well…we’ll likely get run over.

Care to explain yourself? Has he won anything worth a shite? Beating navy prime time doesn’t count.
You got played buddy, sorry.

Perhaps we should spend more money on the players than this sorry arse coach.

Who is we? You're welcome to put together an NIL package for players.

Nope, Jay Johnson is the exception. MBB: caved to ncaa and sacrificed Wade while still voluntarily vacating wins in football and hiring a eunuch. FB: I told y’all from the start, Kelly is all name no championship WBB: fell into his lap that Mulkey was from the state. Plus it’s women’s basketball who the hell cares? Jay is his only true home run.
Jay did win a NC but that team was mostly leftovers from Manieiri. Hopefully he keeps the train moving along though.
