The contract also includes a conditional extension for Woodward if LSU is hit with NCAA sanctions due to events that happened before Woodward was hired

It doesn't seem like a positive bit of foreshadowing that LSU has included conditional language regarding future sanctions in the contracts of both Wade and Woodward..

Will result in possibly the best money LSU ever spent.

What is the logic behind the situational extension based on sanctions?

LINK

At 1.1 million, Woodward is the second highest paid AD in the SEC behind Bama's Greg Byrne. At 1.5 million, Woodward is the highest paid in the SEC, as well as the 4th highest paid AD in the nation.

So from that list, Woodward gets paid $375k more than Alleva was making.

It might be a wash for him, given the lack of state income tax in Texas & if he were smart, he didn't own property in College Station.

Guarantees him time to recover without meddling from the university and the financial incentive to hitch his wagon to a hobbled LSU athletic program.

Was building a house and it was almost done when LSU snagged him

$20k in property tax if this is the right one

Edit: removed link. I know it is public info, just didn't feel right

It is. Super scary how easy it is to find this stuff. But assessors information is all public info
