Something to consider - he was fired by Dallas a year ago. What has he been doing for the past year? Why didn't he make his way to another NFL team?

In the span of an entire year, did he not have one offer from another NFL team?

To be fair, the way O changed from that was to do less and put more trusts in his staff and learn from mistakes. It’s not like he became a defensive savant since them

That’s a bit of a different scenario and it’s pretty dishonest to use that as an excuse for any hire that people disagree with. By that logic, Cam Cameron could’ve been a great candidate

How could you possibly know this?
if he knew what Brady does he wouldn't be an unemployed laughing stock, he'd be the OC in Carolina, not Joe, that should be self evident.

That's not what you said. You said that Linehan knows NOTHING of Brady's concepts.

Given that the Rant hated the Coach O hire more than liked it, and hated the Coach E hire for OC, thought Brady was a glorified towel-boy, thought our OL coach should have been fired, loved the Canada hire, - and now hates this hire for PGC - I THINK WE GOT A CHANCE!

$800K/year for a passing game coordinator? Doesn't make a lot of sense unless it's Peyton Manning.

I'm trying to see a positive in this hire personally but I just don't. He's not exactly young how much more can he grow? Just because you coached in the NFL doesn't mean you can do well in college. It's an entirely different level. I doubt he brings anything for recruiting(and yes, analyst can recruit plenty they just can't leave campus to do it so they can text/visit them on campus etc.).

He went from OC --> unemployed for a year --> PGC quite a huge demotion. Offenses did not look good under him. Known for being stubborn with a simplified scheme. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Only positive I'm going to grab from this hire is LSU still has analyst spots open so HOPEFULLY they can find a young hungry coach who they think can have significant input on this offense possibly someone very familiar with spread concepts. I think LSU would've been far better suited to take a risk on a young ambitious coach instead of a dinosaur who's going nowhere but down. I'm sure it would've helped in recruiting too. Ole Slinger with another young guy. I doubt the young guy who's trying to move up would have ego problems.

theres still nothing to suggest Ems knows what hes doing as an OC. last year was very clearly not him, if he was capable of that before we would have done it, Burrow didnt go from 16 TDs to 60 because Ems magically learned how to coach overnight, it was 100 percent Brady, and we just replaced his youthful brilliance with an unemployed dinosaur.

I feel the same way, not invoking any good vibes for me. As long as they leave last year's offense intact, I'll feel better about the hire. We'll find out soon enough I guess. Spring ball may give us an indication, hopefully.

Almost seems like O wants guys on his staff who have fallen and need a second chance just like him. Not liking where this is going.

uh, we have a REALLY good idea of what he knows, we've seen it in the NFL, for years, and its not good.

You saw what he chose to run based on his personell, not necessarily the only thing that he knows.

Linehan feels way too much like Cam Cameron for me. I hope like hell I'm wrong, but it just feels like heavy regression.
