He's one of the 250 best football HC's in Louisiana when you factor in college, high school, junior high, and pee wee football.

I stick up for him all the time. I have a number of people who repeatedly ask me if he's as stupid as he looks and I ALWAYS reply "No, there's no way he's THAT stupid, now STFU".

THe man negotiated more money/good decisions than anyone else in coaching.

I think it comes out to about $500K per good decision.

He is good at creating great expectations when they don't exist. The Euphoria last right up to the game or season with comments like:

"8-4 is not good enough around here"
"Best offensive line we ever had"
"We worked hard at addressing the problems"
"The QB has corrected his mistakes"
"We had a great week of practice"
"We will have a great effort this week"
"Expect there to be great improvement"

Please fill in the rest!

Umm, I think this is supposed to be a "say something positive about Les Miles as a Football Coach" thread. Did you miss the memo, Mr. Touchy?

2004:9-3 coming off National Championship
2005:11-2 in first season despite Katrina

?

I guess Miles was better with Saban's players than Saban.

....and ALOT worse with his own players

2007: 12-2 (BCSNC)
2008: 8-5 (year after a national championship)

In 2007, Florida went 9-4 after their national championship season when they started their backup quarterback (who won the Heisman)

In 2008, Miles went 8-5 after his national championship season while starting a third, fourth, and fifth-string quarterback.

For those of you who want to dispute this...

Leak
Tebow

Flynn
Perrilloux
Hatch
Lee
Jefferson

You lose a shitton of talent when you win a National Championship. Fact of the matter is that our situation was made worse by losing our transitional player at the most important position on the field.. with Perrilloux in 2008 we beat Georgia, Alabama, and Arkansas. With Perrilloux in 2009, we probably beat every team we play.
