If it's not gonna happen, why even discuss it?

I actually thought about that today.

I'm sure no one would miss him and after the debacle Saturday, someone should get the axe. We all know Miles isn't getting it, so Crowton should be it.

Good.

There needs to be a scapegoat.

If he kept McCarthy on staff for the whole season after an NCAA violation, I'm sure Crowton is safe.

I could see it as mitigation. Then, Les would be alone in his ivory tower.....hey, maybe it'd be a good thing.

I don't think Crowton is calling the plays at this point so it don't matter.

If GC was fired we would really find out who has been calling the plays and making the personell deceisions. I don't think Les is ready to do that just yet.

Crowton is calling the large majority of plays.

It seems obvious that Miles brought Crowton back this year simply to have a scapegoat to fire at the end of the year if the season got ugly. He'll somewhat mollify the fans this week by naming Lee as the starter. But if our offense is dreadful against Florida and we get run out of the stadium, he might feel he has to sacrifice the Wizard a little earlier than he planned.

Hopefully they quietly take the OC responsibility from him and give Billy G. a shot at proving himself as Crowton's replacement.

Good.

Offence can't be any worse without him the rest of the year.

Sends a message LSU is serious about change and tired of underachieving.

Depends on who would step in and fill the void after, to whatever extent that void even exists.

If BG is given free rein of the offense to do as he pleases without Miles touching it, then firing Crowton immediately would definitely be a good thing.

Something tells me that wouldn't happen though, even taking for granted the unlikely hypothetical that GC gets fired tomorrow. Miles would likely try to micromanage the offense even more than he already is, and things could actually get worse.

let me say this ...Les makes as many off calls as crowton does and i wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt change some of the calls when he sends them down to the field... not saying he (crowton) is worth anything as a oc tho... How about JL ? can you imagine if he would have his timing down with the first string recievers or even had practiced with the starters

If BG was to be promoted to OC would he prefer to run a spread O like at UF?

It doesn't matter what BG would want.
