But O is more demanding than Miles was, IMO. He's all about respect. Miles was more of a player's coach. That usually doesn't work for long in the college game. You are more there to be a father figure, not their friend.

Yeah, just look at Saban.

No O isn't Saban, but your post is fricking stupid.

Better pull off a 10-2 or 11-1 season

So even with our schedule this year being ranked top 10 for the hardest Coach O is in trouble huh. I am sure this is what all the O haters will be crying if he doesn't reach the 10 win season. Look if we play a different style of offense and we score points that's what I want to see. I want to see a team in midseason not committing stupid penalties, or looking lost at the end of a game. Our defense is going to do their part. I am just glad les is gone. I guess I am keeping my glass half full now on Coach O. I just don't understand the hate on a man that took a low salary so he could hire and keep some good coordinators. If we go 9-3 and we lose to a superior teams than fine. There is more to the season than just total victories in his first full season.

A low salaray? Jesus christ, he was a fricking defensive line coach. What other offers did he turn down to take the LSU HC position? It's not like other teams were clamoring over him. There was no market for him. It was either take a low salary and be the HC at LSU or hope the next coach retains you as a defensive line coach.

I cant stand people who just want to automatically blame the head coach for stuff like this. What was O supposed to do?, get on his knees and beg and offer Smith a blowjob to get him to stay?

The idiot trolls got their wish. The thread is about a CB transferring away from LSU. Some idiot asks if it is because of the head coach, knowing the kid has a position coach and defensive coordinator between him and the HC. What happens? It becomes a troll thread.

Came here to see if there was any info on him transferring. Instead I get a thread about getting rid of a coach who hasn't even started his full time tenure....typical Rant shite.

Damn thought he would be really good when we signed him. Guessed he was deep on the depth chart. Greedy, Xavier, and Fulton passing him up. Wish it worked out, and it sucks, but we'll be alright. Wish him luck.

You implied that O willingly took a low salary so that he could hire good coordinators as if he is actually worth more than we are paying him.

He is a career DL coach that has failed miserably during his only stint as a head coach. He is only worth what someone is willing to pay him, and nobody besides Joe Alleva was willing to pay him anything besides DL coach money. It's not as if he turned down higher salaries to be the HC at LSU.

O got over twice his market value. He would still be coaching at LSU for under 2 mill if a different hire had happened and wanted to keep him. I'm rooting for O but we could have paid him 2.5 and he would have taken the job. The only problem is that salary would have been an absolute embarrassment for a top program.

Every chance they get. Look at us, our #1 and #2 choices didn't want to come here. Let's shite on him before he even gets started. Jesus

The truth is, few people, and that includes almost everyone on this board, has any idea as to why Smith is transferring.
It's all speculation @ this point…

NO it's not...he doesn't want to be here, period. And it's not because he was expected to start......so go from there

No fricking way we go 9-3 with our talent and better coaching. 11-2 at worse.

All O has to do is stay out of Canada's way, and he'll be 10X better than Miles as a game manager. Look what even Miles managed to do with one arm tied behind his back with all the talent we have, just imagine what a coach with a competent OC calling the plays can do. I'm not saying O will win the MNC, and I definitely think we could've gotten someone way better on paper, but I'm excited to see a coach let his coordinators do their jobs with our talent.

Looking like Fulton made a really good decision to come to LSU. He is starting next year.
