The biggest problem in all of this is the NCAA has been picking and choosing for years which laws they hold accountable for each school. There has been no consistency for a very long time and it’s showing it’s ugly face big time atm.
Sidewalk mentioned this in a thread on the SEC forum and I completely agree. You can’t just pick and choose laws to follow and then throw your hands in the air when the chaos we are seeing is because of the mismanagement they created.
To be clear, I’m against players going pro and then coming back. But they should have had the information clear as day before they had to make an informed decision.
All of this bs is taking away a part of the game we love. It’s unfortunate.
But then again, maybe all of this is on purpose…

The problem with this line of reasoning is that the 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes all have the option to operate under the 5-for-5 rule. They get to choose whether to play under the current rules or the previous rules, based on which is more beneficial to them. 2022 had no choice in the matter.

But is that where the line (more like a tectonic plate fault line) is drawn? Give me a break.
From an LSU fans perspective, and I don’t want to speak on behalf of all LSU fans, but it’s simple. Majority don’t believe any of these players should come back to college. But if the legal courts rule in favor of all players, and other schools are rostering those players, then the SEC should fights all cases..you can’t pick and choose which ones to fight and also be a hypocrite when another school follows the precedent that you set.

Not going to happen.
Every class after 2022 will have known for at least a year that once they go through the draft process, they’re ineligible to come back.
2022 is the exception because they found out after they were told they were ineligible and HAD to enter the draft, that they were, in fact, eligible.

This is how stupid this pearl clutching is. Hutson didn't have to declare for the draft because he exhausted his 4 years. Because of this, he is eligible. Had he had 1 year left and declared for the draft, went undrafted without withdrawing (the same thing that happened to Hutson this year essentially), but participated in the same minicamp, he would not be eligible to play college again under NCAA rules. But...because of the rule change, he DID have an extra year of eligibility and would have had to declare for the draft.
This is all so fricking dumb.
