Sam Burns is currently in the lead as he is about to tee off for his 3rd round. Burns shot a 65 Thursday, and an unbelievable 62 in Friday’s round. He actually moved the cut line back from -5 to -6 under, because of how well he played on the back 9. Burns picked up his first career win on the PGA tour just 2 weeks ago at the Valspar Championship. Looks like he’s finally hitting his stride in his career. Look for Burns to pick up another win on tour at the Byron, as he is 2 strokes above 3 guys at -15 under right now, 2 of which are already done for the day. Burns tees off at 1, look in this thread to stay updated with Burns as he tries to pick up his second win on tour in 3 weeks. Personally rooting for Burns and Speith, and LSU just got a shout out on the golf channel. “LSU leading the way” great to see.

Being in the lead is starting to become a habit for him.

I wonder what that patron said on 17 that pissed him off. Anybody catch it?

Sam Burns ends the day with a birdie on the 18th hole to maintain a lead after 54 holes heading into tomorrow. He birdied the 12th and 18th on the back 9, to have the lowest score through 54 holes since 1983 at the Byron. He shot a 69 today. Burns will be in the final group along with K.H. Lee, and Charl Schwartzel tomorrow.

1. Burns -20
2. Lee -19
T-3. Speith -17
T-3. Kuchar -17
T-3. Schwartzel -17
T-3. Noren -17

Probably just a Longhorn fan with an axe to grind.

-20 after 3 rounds. What a joke. Wide open, carpet lies, hardly any rough. Course is too easy for PGA Tour Professionals.

Very solid round for Sam. Not a lot of birdie, but easy pars coming down the stretch. He was inches from a birdie on 17, and inches from an eagle on 18.

That's what I first thought. Maybe taking a dig at Tyler? He finished well so we've got quite the finish tomorrow if the weather holds up. Burns, Lee, Kutch, and Spieth all within reach and English is known to throw down low rounds.

Sam's group has Lee and Schwartzel. Noren in the next to last group. If weather disrupts the final round PGA may call it after 36 as the players want to get to Kiawah for the PGA Championship. No doubt Sam would rather win as a full tournament--- but, hey!

It's the pga tour so yeah all of those guys can go stupid low on any given day if their putter gets hot. Anyone within 5 of the lead can win this tournament tomorrow if Sam and Lee falter just a bit.

I'm officially not following this thread because it's the curse of doom. I will check back in Sunday evening. Go Sam.
