Zero creativity in the run game. Same shite different, different game.

Damn, atleast utilize Zavion Thomas and do some jeep sweeps.... and follow it up with some presnap eyecandy to create some space for the RBs.

We ran a good bit out of the pistol formation against Arkansas and it was successful. I don't recall seeing any runs out of pistol last night.

I just dont understand why Sloan got so damn tight with the run play-calling when he had a struggling QB on the road.

Sloan and Baker made ZERO adjustments after halftime.

You can’t tell me this offensive line that is loaded with supposedly first day NFL draft picks can’t run block.

They didn’t run block for two years, and they still aren’t good at it now. This isn’t surprising (at all).

What killed LSU was the fact that they put Nussmeier on the move.

This was a good decision. The passes were there to be made. Nuss has the ability to make them. He didn’t execute.

Don’t confuse poor execution with poor coaching. There were plenty of instances of poor coaching, that wasn’t one of them.

The playcalling is horrid.

On offense.

frick that.

Poor execution was the issue. The plays were there to be made.

The 2nd down run is to attempt to make a potential 3rd down more manageable.

I like the aggressive play style on 1st down. I also believe that we can make 3 and 7 (or less) consistently.

We will have to agree to disagree on that point.

You guys are missing a huge instant last night that in my humble opinion changed the game in A&M’s favor!

Your QB got stepped on his ankle by his own lineman and was not as mobile.

Contrary to what was said above, I thought it was a brilliant move to constantly move the pocket for him as seen in the first half, A&M didn’t have an answer for that and you guys were going up and down the field.
After he gets hurt, A&M started to stop LSU and putting pressure on your QB because he wasn’t as mobile.

THAT simple fact changed the game in A&M’s favor!!
After that your offense started to sputter.

2. Defense- I give Baker a lot of credit. This defense looks light years better than last year. But the second half was alarming. I get the first drive..you didn’t expect that QB, etc. But by the second drive, third drive, fourth drive, you are telling me he can’t make an adjustment? Scary with Milroe coming to town.

It seems obvious they didn’t prepare for Reed coming in. That’s pretty bad, but it’s also not something you just “fix” midgame if you haven’t practiced defending the read option. You either practice defending the read option ahead of time, you have an absolute dawg who can spy the QB every single play with zero practice, or you lose. We didn’t practice it, our absolute dawg is out for the year, so we lost.

I would be pretty surprised and disappointed if that specific failure point replicated against Alabama because they aren’t going to surprise us by going to an elite dual threat athlete off the bench.

Otherwise I largely agree. Offense was way too predictable if we missed the first down pass. It virtually guaranteed third and long all night. You’re totally right about Nuss and the law of averages, which is refreshing to see amidst a sea of kneejerk reactions. Any one-dimensional QB continually placed into third and longs (and forced to roll out under pressure all the time) is going to have a bad time eventually.

Correct! And the thought of Nuss not being mobile is just a bad take! I would say he can run, but elects not to! Us running read options are a joke because he literally never keeps it! Nuss is too comfortable and knows there is no one on that bench that would take his spot if he throws picks or stinks up the joint!

The play calling was predictable! However, I don’t think we were outcoached! I think aTm just wanted it more. In the second half, Nuss literally gave them the game and flipping momentum.
In addition the missed field goals just kept them in the game with more good field position. One of those kicks, we should have just went for it because I don’t even think it reached the goal posts even though it was wide.
Also, Hilton was bad and rusty, he mistimed a jump for a clear TD, and did the same thing on one that would have put us down the field.

Nuss had a bad day because he’s pressured by the defense and fooled by some of the zone A&M played that camouflaged what they intended to do to our offense. Our offense was vanilla with to many four yard throws to the boundaries of the sidelines. It was same plays over and over and A&M figured it out. Plus, our defense did not know how to stop a triple option offense which is on the coaching staff ( yes, it’s on Blake Baker & CBK ).
Sloan had better add something to the strategic attack or else go to a division II team. Alabama will eat us alive if we can not figure this out because we have been exposed. Our weaknesses are massive after the butt kicking we just received at the hands of the faggies.

Tiger365, your take is good except we were out planned and out coached sir because our players did not know how to stop the triple option after Reed took over the QB position in the second half. That was a great coaching decision and won the game.
I agree that Nuss made bad decisions. It’s hard to have success with repeating over and over bad plays that the coaching staff sends into the QB. The throws to the sidelines killed us because their CBs were expecting those throws. Nuss did a better job of distributing the ball in the first half of the game. Physically, we matched up okay with A&M. They were more experienced, better prepared with a much better game plan and they executed their game plan better then LSU.
