Saban has NO biz coming back here. He has DONE this already. He is a been there done that kind of guy. BUT IF LSU wanted to pay him$6 MIL a year I am sure he would think about it. I like Miles as LSU'S Coach. But If SABAN ran for GOV in BAMA. He just might win. Miles running in LA, HE would not come close.

I believe that is where the majority of the hate for Miles comes. He isn't Saban so people don't like that he doesn't act and do like Saban

Most of the so-called positigers believe this. But you're wrong.

The gumps are right on one thing. Saban is in our fanbase's head. Anytime Les's name comes up, the word Saban soon follows.

It's mostly because he and his teams are the ones that we have to compete against each and ever year for the West. If we played ND Brian Kelly would be in all of our heads etc. etc.

I agree, Lsu is gonna play hell beating Bama consistently as long as nick sticks around. Other than the field goal debacle last year, Nick has shown to be able to consistently out coach ole Lester

Are you forgetting the 2010 Bama/LSU game. The Hat outcoached lil Nicky by a mile!

With the exception of the 2003 BCS championship season, Saban lost at least 3 games every season at LSU. Miles' LSU teams have been more successful overall than Saban's LSU teams

If we fire Les Miles and LEAVE THE HC SLOT VACANT for a little while, I'll bet Saban will come back.

It might take a few years, but, Saban would come back, and, IT WOULD BE WORTH THE WAIT.

Faced each other 7 times:

Saban 4 wins
Miles 3 wins

If Saban comes back to LSU I will refuse to watch or follow another game as long as he is there. My contempt for the man runs that deep.

On a serious note, you Saban lovers do understand he can NOT leave Alabama and experience the same success, right? As good a coach as he may be, ultimate success relies on talent and recruiting. And that's where he would come up a little short.

Wait, you say. LSU can recruit with Alabama, you say. Well, that's not completely true, but we do well enough to hang- but that isn't the point.

The point would be negative recruiting for the elite, national players (you know, guys like our QB, our defensive end, etc). The one knock on Saban is that he has no loyalty. That was smoothed over when he went to Bama, by his failure in the NFL. Kids now widely assume he's gonna stay there, and finish out his college career- no more moving every couple years. It does help that he can sell the Alabama brand, but parents, high school coaches etc- they "understand" he's now at a place where he won't move on to greener pastures.

He moves to LSU (or Texas), and that goes out the window. He will still get the kids who grew up wanting to be on that campus, in that jersey... but the out-of-state studs will be another story. Every other recruiter will tell them he's gonna split as soon as he gets a better chance, or bored, or whatever- and point to his history. Look at how he left Alabama when he had everything, they'll say.

The first couple years, that won't be a problem. But by year three, it will be- and the high school coaches (the decent father figures, at least) will make it something for the kid in, say, Georgia or somewhere, to consider: "y'know, Billy, he's a good coach, but he doesn't stay still very long. There's a good chance he'll leave before you do, if you go there".

Just something to consider. Let him go

You're right, he's not coming back so let's be content being second in the west and third soon with Sumlin.

Last time I checked it was Saban who lost to Sumlin not Miles.

Miles is 3-4 against "the greatest coach of all time"

Other that BCS game (which was embarrassing), Les has lost to Saban in the following manner:
2012 - very late drive by Bama to lose by 4
2009 - very close until the PP7 INT was not called. Bama kicks a FG to win by 9
2008 - #1 Bama beats Miles' by far worst team in OT

You've got it exactly. People look at what Saban has done at Alabama and say if he had stayed here we would have four or five NC.

I don't want Miles replaced. Just want him to hire a "smart" OC and then by god get out of the way and let him make the decisions. Miles is a great recruiter, an inspirational leader, a player's coach but he is an awful game day coach, especially on offense.

nick saban had more blowout losses when he was here than les miles has. Nick Saban lost to UAB at home. Nick Saban only had one season where he didnt lose more than one game, but hey Nick saban did much better at LSU than les miles

FWIW I personally don't have a problem with Miles keeping the job at present. However, if he should leave and Nick is still active and wants to come home, what the hell.

3-4 is out coaching? 2010 called , go rewatch that game, Les out coached Saban that game easily. I could argue he did in the first game of 2011 as well.
