Not to defend Stephen A, but Clark made that comment when Stephen A wasn't there to respond. You have to expect a response from those ESPN mouthpiece douches if you're going to mix it up with them like that.

Bottom line is everything RC said about SAS was true. SAS was just butthurt. Just like he did when J. Rose wouldn't let him speak he pretended to be the "bigger man" and shut up. He and Skip have truly been owned except when their together on the show. The only thing they bring up is how long they've been in the media. Nobody gives a sh*t. You are critical but you can't take real criticism and the truth.

If Clark wasn't on the show then SAS didn't "own" him. It's easy to to make someone seem stupid with a grandiose anger-fueled rant if they aren't there to defend themselves

Didn't see it. I try to avoid Syephen A. Smith as much as possible. He's just a loud mouth racist who hollers to drown out anyone with a different opinion, and then speaks softly to appear articulate. Either way, he's still an annoying, racist punk.

Only if we need to be told what opinions to have.

I have no idea who Stephen Smith is other than a guy who shows up on ESPN segments occassionally. I have no idea because if he has a show, or if there is a show or column built around him or people like him (journalists), there would be no point in paying attention to it.

Those who call themselves "journalists" in this day and age are without merit, worth or any other call for respect. They should attract attention from no one for any reason, as they serve no purpose but to inspire negative emotions or spread disinformation (either for profit or for agenda). All the information anyone could possibly hope to get from a "journalist" is available from lots of other sources without being filtered through nearly as much media garbage. Journalists have value only to those afraid or unable to form their own opinions, even if those opinions fail to win the approval of whoever you're trying to impress.

Are you talking about just SAS types? Bc if so i guess you have apoint. If you're talking about all people who work in media that's just dumb. People like Wright Thompson, SVP, Dan Patrick, Stewart Mandel and countless others do a great job

do a great job
A great job of what? Telling me who won the game? Telling me what the score was, or who made the game winning basket, or game saving tackle, or beautiful play at third? I can see all that for myself. That's what highlight reels (or YouTube, now) are for.

These people's "jobs" are commentary. And all commentary is is them telling us what they think about these things. The only reasons for me to care what they think about anything are a) because I care what they think, or b) because I want/need them to tell me what I should think. I don't care what they think because it adds nothing to my enjoyment of the game/event/whatever. And I certainly don't need them to tell me what I should think because I already know what I do think. And the only things that will change what I think are facts and events, which -- as mentioned above -- I don't need "commentary" to find out.

I'm sure some of them are quite entertaining. And some of them probably know quite a lot about their subject and have well informed insights into the subjects. But if I care enough to want an opinion about something, I'd rather learn the facts on my own and figure out my own opinion rather than listen to someone whose job is to garner listeners and provoke reactions, not dispense wisdom, knowledge or truth.

Frankly, when ESPN isn't broadcasting games, recaps of games, or highlights, I basically don't watch it. Been that way for several years.

If you ask me, the whole lot of these losers are nothing but overpaid highschool girls. Apparently, it is somehow entertaining to enough dudes out there to keep this garbage on TV. Anyway, just my two cents.

The only people I respect a journalist or reporters are, John Clayton, Micheal Smith, Mortensen, Jeremy Schapp, and Sheftner. Those are journalists.

Even Jamele Hill or Woody Paige's wierd a$$. They really bring evidence with the points they make.

Actually, I was talking about journalists in general. But I thought the thread was talking about sports journalism (Stephen A. Smith in particular, of course). I hadn't realized it was specific to ESPN guys.

I didn't recognize the names you listed, but I thought you were making a joke. Sorry.
