I was reading the article about the team visit to Children's Hospital on Monday here......
Tigers Visit Children's Hospital
I read Russell Shepard's quote that read....
.....as well as Kelvin Sheppard's quote...
And it is no surprise that these young men are leaders on this team. Every time I hear or see Russell Shepard he displays a ton of class and maturity. Considering how much of a highly ranked player he was coming out of high school I wouldn't have been surprised if he had been somewhat spoiled or complacent when he got to LSU. But this young man has been nothing but a great representative.
I would love to meet his parents. They have done and OUTSTANDING job with this young man.

I read Russell Shepard's quote that read....
quote:
"These kids are probably more help to us than we are to them. What we are doing is easy; we are playing a game. They are fighting through adversity and making it through life. They are a blessing to us, and they let us know that every day doesn't last forever. We have to live every day like it's our last, so I want to thank these kids for giving us that opportunity."
.....as well as Kelvin Sheppard's quote...
quote:
"I will remember this just as much as I will remember anything that goes on in my last game as a Tiger,"........This is a very humbling experience, and everyone including myself appreciates this a lot because it helps us remember what we have. I am very thankful and humbled by this experience."

Great to hear positive stories like that! Even going back to high school, Shep has shown a lot of maturity and character for his age. It sure seems like he "get's it."
Thanks for posting.

randle looks like he's sporting the 'miles style' hat-wearing technique. that thing looks like it's just resting softly on his noggin.

The Texas Scottish Rite Children's Hospital is a wonderful institution. It's a charity hospital, privately funded, and does extraordinary work with developmental diseases in children. I'm glad our guys are supporting it.

Without their numbers I can't tell who anyone is in that picture.

That's him. He's ahead of schedule but a long way from contact football.

Russell gets a lot of camera time but he's far from the only quality young man on this team. Not to deminish him or your comments, which I agree with, but he's one of many.
Miles attracts these kids - they recognize the integrity/character in him. Like him on game day or not, Les Miles is a quality human being.

It's gotta be true because you never hear much about our players getting into major trouble these last six years........................save for Perriloux.

RP is a head case.
I don't know Les personally but I know and see business leaders (CEOs, etc.) that either breed choas or confidence, both being the direct result of their own actions. It's no mistake when a leader is successful in building a team of individuals with integrity to themselves and their organization.
I don't always like his ultimate choices but I always respect his decision making process.

CLM has done a good job of recruiting players who are leaders on and off the field.

This is one of the many reasons that LSU is who I root for.
