With all the different names, nomenclature, and terminology that gets thrown around here, what is the actual offense that the Rant wants to see? To make it easier, name the year that your preferred offense was used by LSU. Was it '03, '07, '11, '12, etc.?

Good coaches fit the scheme to the players they have.

I don't think most fans care what offense. Just frustrating to not use the abilities of the athletes we have.

I expect no less than Aaron Rodgers behind center.

I dont know. I really love the potential for Kiffin's spread/tempo West Coast concepts, as they might translate in Canada's motion offense.

This is particularly true if we field a QB who can both make the throws and extend plays, but more importantly, master the timing aspects of the offense.

He has to be able to reliably predict where all of his targets are on the field at any given point in his count, delivering the ball to his best option, timely and accurately.

This likely means we play the cerebral pocket passer, with the live arm and good feet, over the athlete with the big arm.

I suspect that if Canada stays, he will be taking an extended working vacation in Boca, at some point in the near future. JMO.

It had everything. Best mix of spread-type stuff and pro style that I’ve seen.

I do not know the nomenclature but I want this system put together by the relatively obscure offensive guru named Matt Canada!

Canada finds ways to beat opponents without having to physically dominate and because he does it differently defenses are less proficient stopping it.

Really don't care which offense we run, but a blend is what we do have.
With the 2 QB's we have now, whichever 1 wins the starting position, I hope the coaches will fit the right offense with the right QB.
Actually I would like to see both QB's play with different packages. Cholly Mac was cussed & discussed for years because he believed in a 2 QB system. Even when he had Bert Jones. It didn't matter to him.
But, at the end of the day, the offense I think we need to run is the 1 that gives LSU the best chance to win the game of the week, every week.

2013 was a perfect blend of passing talent and stout running game. Chavis and his recruiting caught up on us . Probably the best Offense matched with our WORST D in 10 years

I want the power spread, but would take what Lincoln Riley has been doing the past two years at Oklahoma any day.

I want to be a beast in passing and running, not just one or the other.

Oklahoma ran for almost 3100 yards and 30 TDs in 13 games with mostly 2 RBs that were drafted last year (Mixon, Perine), a freshman and their QB who added 6 TDs. This year, that freshman and two other guys along with the QB amassed 2807 yards and 31 TDs in 13 games. That's consistent rushing performance.

Their passing game is beyond ridiculous. They replaced 4 of their top 5 pass catchers leaving only the TE coming back, yet they were even better passing th ball. That TE needs less than 100 yards and 2 TDs to put up 1000 yards 10 TDs on the year. They have two RBs with at least 280 yards and 4 TDs receiving. It's the first year for their leading pass catcher who had 980 yards and 6 TDs. Their freshman WR has 740 yards and 7 TDs. Surprisingly these guys are only throwing 30.5 times per game (29.5 last year). They put up no less than 4100 yards (4130 and 4780 respectively) and 43 TDs (43 and 44 respectively) in either year while rushing for at least 2800 yards and 30 TDs.

We need to stop it with the pro style junk and hire a guy who wants to run a legit modern college offense. A guy that can get the passing game and running game down even losing sets of people every other year. We aren't going anywhere until we do. Do you think Bama is going to go down after Saban retires? Hell no. They will make Swinney the most paid coach in the game and bring him back home. It's sickening that they have a guy that freaking good waiting in the wings. It's like they are destined or some shite. Stop listing what we have done in the past, look at the guys who are at the frontier of offense.
