Yes, really.

Chavis' D greatly depends on getting a pass rush from your front 4, well in years we didn't as much talent up front he never really adjusted schematically to find other creative ways to get pressure.

Failed was a strong word, but it was always a gripe I had with him.

I don't know the details but he's very likely still getting paid by USCw.

He actually quit. He was promoted to interim but was still under his previous contract. When they hired Sark to be the head coach, they offered O a huge salary and a position on the staff. He turned it down and quit. Since he left, I doubt he's getting paid anything other than money he already earned or guaranteed money that wasn't paid up front.

People are just getting impatient, especially since the rumors have died down now. With all the different reports, it's hard to take anything at face value unless it comes straight from Miles/Alleva. With that in mind, Pendergast could very well be in play.

while I can find faults with some of his defenses he usually had good schemes and gameplans for the spread offense. I think with spread teams the dl may have been taught to not rush the qb...don't know that for a fact though.

That's because creative pressure has it's trade-offs.

That certainly isn't a failure. That's a calculated decision meant to produce the best outcome.

I think the "failure" you would be referencing is the inability to keep pass rushers in the system. If pass rushers are critical, you damn well better make sure you are recruiting a bunch of them and can develop them.

the ends would rush either forcing the QB waaay outside or up the middle while a LB was a "spy"

Holding lanes and containment were priority, I believe.

Exactly. There's this thread reporting CP and O is 90% then another rumor comes the same day about Pendergast pulling his name. I think all options are still on the table and there's candidates that we haven't heard. Apparently many have expressed interest in the position

The only way we'll know for sure is LSU announcing the new hire, or someone else announcing the hire of Pendergast/Orgeron. Until then, it's all speculation. One thing's for sure, LSU has done a great job of keeping this search quiet.
