He had to pay back his stipend, which he was pocketing.

And he didn't even miss a game.

Think you are right. He had to pay back around $19k for his stipend and benefit over the normal housing allowance. Don't think he missed many games, if any.

personally, i really don't think LSU would allow anything this high profile to happen, but stupider things have happened.

+1. Given the hightened tension in the NCAA these days, I don't see how LSU could 'overlook' something this obvious on a player they have regularly put in front of the media. Secondly, why go through the Hicks saga and not include this item in the self sanctions ?

I'll be first to say it and I could be dead wrong...But, I think Shep is a stand up kid and I don't think he would jeopardize LSU over an apartment. He routinely does more charity work than is required, he's a hard working leader of the team and I'm going to stand behind him until it's proven he's guilty of something.

This will be a non-issue IMO.

I completely agree w/ all of this

Let's just hope they don't start looking into the recruitment of his cousin...

He would also be required as a fb player to be there in the summer and the venue is a year lease. There is absolutely no cost savings if you have to live in the dorm year round.

Surely no ones stupid enough to pay for someone like RS housing-a huge 5 star oos recruit.

Yep... It would be right at $9600 a year per person for that particular unit at ECA. The Venue isn't as expensive as that guy was trying to make it out to be. I know because I actually lived there, and I was going to live there this year. The only reason why I'm not there is one of the stupid, little girls in the office decided to stuff our lease in a drawer and forget about it until it was too late. My roommate and I were told that we could move to their complex on Highland if we wanted to live together.

I moved to Southgate Towers, and I'm glad I was able to do it. The units are bigger, the internet is A LOT faster, the prices are in the same ballpark, it's close to the school, the office staff isn't incompetent, I can't hear any of my neighbors, maintenance is "Johnny on the Spot", parking is light years better and I feel like I'm actually getting what I pay for over here. The Venue is a nicely disguised dump compared to Southgate.

After looking at the price difference in favor of living off campus, LSU would save money by letting him live at The Venue in comparison to WCA or ECA. This all may be smoke and mirrors.

Im in a 4 bedroom so its a little better on cost. All furniture was handed down or we already had so that was good.
