frick man. This is terrible. I feel for his family and prayers go out to anyone close to this kid. It's a damn shame that his life ended this way. The disregard some people have for another persons life nowadays is just mind blowing. It makes me sick.

. I am not attacking you in anyway, but why would you want to see this video? It is just my opinion but I think it is disrespectful to the family for this to be passed around so casually on the internet. Not saying you intended it this way it just my opinion. This young man was just killed and people are passing around a video of it so casually. This is one fricked up world.

Have the BR "community activists" said anything about this?

This is just awful, all the way around.

I feel for Coach Wade, who has to come up with the right things to say and do with a group of young men who are just as devastated as he is right now.

If prayer is your thing, pray that Coach Wade can have the strength and wisdom to guide his players through this time. For some of those kids, this might be the worst thing that they have ever had to deal with.

Coach Wade is a good man and a good leader and I am confident he will handle this with grace and dignity.

Coaches spend an incredible amount of time with these kids. I suspect Wade is absolutely devastated. Sims was lucky to have what appears to be a good father in his life, but these coaches take on a quasi-father role as well. Even though you can't be with a 20 year old every minute of every day, I imagine Wade is feeling like he has let everyone (the team, the Sims family, LSU) down. That, of course, is completely untrue. But I imagine he is going to struggle with this for a while.

Just a whole lot of unnecessary hurt

Simple, because I want to see what happened.

I don’t feel like I should have to explain this.. if it was just some random dude in Chicago or somewheres else, I would never be questioned about it

You are almost certainly right. I don't think it's out of line to make certain, though.

What awful news to wake up to. Wade and the guys couldn’t stop talking about his off-season work. Heart goes out to family and teammates. Just awful.

He had an amazing father and extremely supportive family. No "what appears to be" about it.

Gravy’s latest response, since he’s been called out multiple times in this thread:

quote:

I have been one of the main people that calls the press out for associating crime with Southern University. I’ve written on the issues, blasted news stations, and rightfully so. When they negatively associate crime with the university that doesn’t take place on campus it hurts the university. I saw the video, I know the campus. If an act happens across the hump, it happened at Southern. This young mans body may have fell on private property, but the altercation was in the street on Harding. We should not try and wiggle out of it because it doesn’t look good for the university. The act of violence that took place is the act of a coward, but this happened at Southern. And SU needs to step up security this weekend for homecoming to ensure the safety of all people coming to the bluff. I will defend black people and institutions until my death, but I will not be a hypocrite in the process. This happened at Southern University. It is 100% the shooters fault, but Southern has a duty to those who love it — to ensure safety measures are increased this weekend.

no one said you had to, I just asked the question. Nothing requires you to answer. But I would ask one more, not that I expect a answer. What if this was your brother or father or son in this video getting shot and killed. What would be your reaction if people were sharing this video and passing it around like it was highlights of last nights football game. Again I am not attacking you. I just can’t understand people repeatedly watching and sharing it. I know he was killed. He isn’t coming back I don’t need to see a video of it.
