Big Coop was not very effective out there to start the season and they just kept trotting him out there and it was pissing me off. Something about a hefty lefty not being good and not being able to cover first infuriated me.

But now, he is one of the most effective guys we have if not the most effective out of the pen. And I LOVE the hefty lefty coming in and talking shite to other teams after striking them out. He’s been awesome.

Cooper got a lot of hate early on. But Jay knows what he's doing, he brought Cooper here for a reason.

He’s a priceless lefty in our bullpen.

People have a tendency to overreact in baseball. Players go through funks. You need a longer sample size before making judgments. Like Thompson for example. We can say now there’s a serious issue.

I think he comes in to throw strikes and he does...

Cooper in my opinion has been consistent all year. He doesn't dazzle but he has control and composure. The rant just got a little carried away when he lost a couple of foot races to first.

He struggled a good bit in his first few outings. I think the rant got carried away because he was brought in almost every game even when he wasn’t playing well

Yeah, I think it was the A&M series that a lot of the TD hate for him started. But he's come a long way since then.

It’s nice having a good lefty on the team again. We need a few more.

What at first seemed like favoritism, turned out to be a coach patiently knowing exactly what he was doing. We are reactionary indeed.

The biggest thing is he doesn’t walk anybody. 4 walks in 25.2 innings. So Jay knows he can bring him in for any jam and not give up free bases and free runs.

Anyone with a brain realized he’s not gonna show favoritism

People see what they want to see. People are morons and overreact.

They guy will win championships here. People need to sit back, stfu, be supportive and enjoy some f'n baseball.

Yep, this right here.

While I wish we had not fallen from the top, we did. But now we get to watch the climb back up which is far more exciting than only having championship or bust mentality.

It’s way more than just that. He competes his arse off. What did Hunt or T-Bob—somebody on 104.5–say yesterday? He’s only given up 2 of 15 or 18 inherited runners? He’s kept us in so many games that would have likely gotten out of hand without him. Just so reliable.

And he does it without great stuff—again, just competes his arse off. And you can tell the team feeds off of him. It looks like Hasty may be emerging to get in the mix a bit, but really, Cooper has been our only left-handed arm all season after Coleman went down. Imagine if he hadn’t come over with Jay?

We’ve got some great position players, Gervase and Reyz have been awesome, and we certainly HAD to have Hilliard step up in the SEC and battle to get out of jams to eat innings in those Game 1s and not only give us a chance to win, but save our already overused pen, BUT, I think I could make an argument that Cooper has been this team’s MVP. I might not fully believe it, but I feel confident I could make it.

The Riley here was always over blown.

Out of the Pen his numbers have always been good. Outside a rough start against La Tech he has been good all year while being our only lefty who could consistently through strikes for most of the season

What's not to like about a pitcher that has to fix his hair after every pitch

But everyone has their quirks.

How did Cooper ever get ahead of Thompson?
