Once the ACL is torn it needs to be replaced. The commonly used term of ACL repair actually is a replacement. I would be very suprised if he makes it back for this season. But you have to remember he will be rehabing every day as opposed to 3 times a week for an average person. Also with the intense "prehab" he is going through he will be in a better position to recover.

More than likely he will be able to play the second half of the season. The question is wether or not Miles will do this or not play him at all and try to get a medical.

This is changing the subject, but what is the story with Dugas'(the walkon who was making noise at fullback) injury?

Bayou Bengal Blog makes it sound like he's out indefintely too.

Would suck not to have a big blocker in front of CS on goal-line situations....

Ridley's surgery
Ridley's been reported walking around with no limp or crutches.
That's not too unusual.Stll has to have the surgery to get the stability back, and I hope like hell for his sake he doesn't try to come back for, at best , a regular season game or two plus a bowl. Needs to get the redshirt.

To play FB when you have lived your whole life playing TB is like putting a race horse behind a plow. It may be necessary, but not fun.

Worked out pretty well for Marcus Allen ... he moved to Fullback his Sophomore year and helped Charles White win the Heisman. When his turn came to play tailback, he took home the prize.

Thanks for the answers on the options for repairing the ACL. Sure makes you wonder why they're saying he'll be back by September.

Dugas will be the fullback because Miles' mission in life is to drive Maximus crazy...

Thanks for the post. I don't understand the last comment about fewer for #34 (Ridley), but this is a blow for a guy who was busting arse on special teams, and when a lot of us had high expectations.

Usually six months for ACL surg. if rehab goes well. However, often takes two seasons before truly comfortable (ie Charles Alexander)

didn't wan't to say that, but yeah, kinda realistic. Having said that, this is a hard working kid and a class individual, don't be surprised if he makes it back for the fall, comes from a family of athletes and a good family. Everyone is pulling for him from the home front (natchez)

Didn't see the question asked but I'm assuming he gets a medical redshirt?

agree, has too many good things we would all like to see to risk an injury at his point, just pulling for the guy

I think 6 months is agressive but can be done, especailly if what someone stated is true about no other damage. I recall other players coming back in that amount of time. That puts him back in October. Could probably play the second half of the season.

If it's true that Dugas has a torn ACL, I would hope LSU abandons the FB position for 2009.

Because that would be 2 ACL's at FB already and we're not that far into spring practices.

FB for LSU is beginning to look like QB for Oregon.

Wasn't Rod Woodson's injury an ACL tear, the one he suffered on opening day of the '95 season and came back to play in the Superbowl? I recall that being a freak of nature in terms of recovery time, but it was also nearly 15 years ago. Is that still freakishly fast?

Or was that a different injury altogether?

If he can keep working without playing, he will come back. It is a bitter pill to swallow. The mental part is the hardest.
