I think that he will be used more this year and have a break out season as a senior. He will be the starter his senior year and will be the lightning along with the thunder of Ford/Ridley. We are set up for the next couple of years at RB, although depth becomes an issue after this year.

Murphy is playing it old school. In other words, he is paying his dues and waiting his turn. You don't see that a lot and I respect it. Craig Steltz did the same thing. So has Al Woods. Les is able to keep these guys around and they don't go pro and many of them don't transfer (except on the O-Line, which I still don't fully understand). I think that Murphy knows that if he waits his turn, he'll be okay.

Plus, if he has a breakout senior year, he'll be drafted fairly high and will have a longer shelf like in the pros, Marcus Allen like.

i feel bad for him. he's just been buried on our depth chart since day one, and now we have backs we've recruited that will start over him next season as well.

doubtful

I bet he gets the chance to start in 10

I saw him the other day and physically he looks great. His arms are massive for the size of his body--not sure if he has always been like that, but his arms caught me off guard (and everyone that saw him said the same thing).

Can only hope the best for the guy...

I would tend to agree with you. He seems to be pretty fast and shifty, but not quite as physical as Scott or Williams. From what I have heard, he has a really good work ethic and manners. I would hope he gets to shine in 2010, but I wonder about his durability when used frequently. In my very inexpert opinion, he seems like pro material. KC.

I agree with this. He came in the same year as Scott and Williams and wound up redshirting, so he certainly knew he was in a "wait your turn" situation. Since he's still here, seems like he's cool with that.

He'll probably get as many carries this year as he did last year, but I expect him to have a great year in 2010.

He'll be a beast his senior year. Murphy/Ford combo.

Well, I think Ridley will have something to say about that. He is a fricking beast!

i think he ends up lost in the mix next year also. i certainly don't think he'll be our primary back

If we'd pitched it to him instead of handing off behind left guard vs UK in triple overtime to end the game he would still be running and we would have beaten UK, but hey it all turned out okay in the end.

Just one view, but I think Murphy is our second back, behind Scott.
AND, he's a better change of pace back (and receiver) than KW.
Don't be surprised if he gets more touches than
KW.

murphy in no way has shown he's better than KW in their respective LSU careers

KW's avg per carry, is 50 and Murphy's is 4.2.
But Murphy had vey few carries, less than half that KW enjoyed.
I would go with Murphy over KW, particularly on 3rd and long.

Your view is wrong.
