We had 3 mental errors in that inning.
Imo

1. PM leaving Reynolds in too long.

2. Kramer taking the foul ball out instead of letting Duplantis have it with better positioning to stop the runner on 3rd.

3. Watson a bad read which lead to a bad jump on the ground rule double.

Whatever happened to accountability? It's always "oh you did so great!", even when it's not true. That's the equivalent of participation awards.

and this sentiment is also ridiculously overplayed. If you are evaluating RR by the standards that you would Lange, of course he is only eligible for a "participation award." He's not going to suddenly become a first round draft pick, simply because we need another one. Based on his abilities and limitations, that were known going into the game, the kid pitched well for 3 innings, in my humble opinion.

I think PM said that during his mid-game interview.

Was he in a position to know Duplantis could get to it?

He admitted that!

Hard to say!

Sun was dead in his eyes and was hard to pick up the travel flight of the ball off the bat.

Baseball still clings to "feel" so much more than any other sport

I'd actually argue just the opposite. Baseball coaches/managers too often go "by the book." Lefty vs. lefty, pitch counts, when to hit and run/sac bunt, middle reliever, closer, etc.

I'd argue that "feel" is an important part of coaching. Each player doesn't perform exactly as predicted every game. A coach needs to make decisions based on what's happening in real-time, not by the conventional wisdom handbook.

1. Yes PM accepted it.

No problem.

2. It looked like both players were calling for the ball and the announcers discussed it also.

3. Yes the glare was bad.

Could have worn shades and with runners on second and third could have played deeper to keep the ball in front of him.

Great ballgame.
Love our team.

Odd things happen sometimes.

Let's go Tiger's.

Totally agree. After first walk Take him out. Game could have been different but you never know. Bullpen performed well. Aside from that inning we essentially shut them down.

CPM gave him a shot at some redemption. It wasn't greed even though he called it that. I don't think any less of Reynolds after that outing but certainly no more him either.

After the four pitch walk Dunn should've gone out to buy time for Bush to get warmed up.

After the second walk PM should've been sprinting to the mound.

He gets the 3 innings he wanted and still totally effed it up. Especially sad for the kids last game.

Dead on, Wildcat81tiger86! I said the same things last night. Obvious CPM left RR in too long (I was screaming at CPM on the TV), Duplantis would have had a running start towards the plate if he takes the pop up behind third, and Watson got a bad jump, then gave up on the ball even before he was at the warning track. I think he could have snagged that one.

yep, just 4 runs allowed by wholestaff put us in position to win the game.

Just needed more baserunners on the other side. Need to take the first pitch a little more often. So many first pitch outs.
