Overall, very satisfied with Denbrock, Wilson, Sloan, Hankton and Davis. Now let’s assemble a similar defensive staff.

This is how games should be called. Brian Kelly has a habit to tone it down when the defense is playing better. It shouldn’t matter except situationally on occasion

I agree...our offensive staff need not be meddled with but defensive changes and better recruiting need to be made in the off season

BK said in his postgame presser that Denbrock prioritizes getting the ball to the best players

Everybody says this, but LSU appears to be actually doing this, so kudos to the entire offensive staff (and head coach Brian Kelly).

If we could revolutionize the defense in coming years to such an extent, we could make the conference weep.

Denbrock called some pretty questionable games last year.

He has been fantastic this season

Maybe. Probably even. But there is a chance Sloan is a really good QB coach and Nussmeier may benefit?

Nussmeier should be very good. He won't be better than Daniels. Daniels puts so much pressure on defenses with his legs, forcing them to exhaust a defender on almost every play as a spy. This opens up the field for the passing game in a way that won't be available for Nussmeier. Daniels many times makes 3rd and longs look like child's play because as soon as the linebackers either commit to rushing a lane or turn their back he's covered 20 yards. Not a knock on Nuss at all, just a fact.

I think he was limited by Daniel’s inability to play the long ball and tendency to cut and run without making progressions. He looks like a different quarterback this year.

I disagree. Jayden is better, but Nuss is also very good. Nuss has the potential to run a great offense as well. Also, while he’s no Daniels, he’s mobile and athletic, so there will be some QB runs. What has made the difference this year is that Daniels has become an accurate QB. That’s why many wanted Nuss. With Daniels’ accuracy, legs and decision making, he has become a very special QB.

You might be dog-cussing Denbrock next year when we lose the threat of the QB run. What we have at QB right now is a national once in a decade talent who has great pocket presence, a very good arm, great character, smarts, and is the best running QB LSU has ever had - probably the best in the nation.

The play calling/playbook was very different between nussmeir and Daniels last year.

We will see a huge drop off in quarterback play with Nussmeier next year. Enjoy Jaden Daniels while you have him.
Yep. There is going to be a learning curve. We have been blessed by Daniels lack of turnovers, but only super elite QBs do that. Nuss will be year one, and he still has gunslinger in him. Also, he is not a threat at all to run. He can move around the pocket and make a throw on the run, but we lose the ridiculous rushing threat of Daniels.

-When his passing elevated to cover the whole field.
-When Logan Diggs became a legit threat for big runs on you.
-When you have the threat of the RPO scheme where he can run, the RB can run, or he can throw a pass in the flat or on a swing.
-When your OL is elite at blocking and you have 2 RBs who are great blockers and 2 of your top 3 WRs are great blockers.
-When your QB can run and slip in-between tackles and beat you to the sideline and takes on hits (did you see him drag 2 guys by himself for several yards), and out run you in a straight line and with an angle
-When your QB is a top tier leader that is always calm and never gets to low on a turnover or hit or high on a TD or big pass.
-When your QB is smart enough in his pre and post snap reads to slide protections, diagnose any defense, go through his progressions, hit his checkdowns, and find guys all over the field.

How in the HELL, can you actually stop that kind of offense? Denbrock KNOWS he has the players at RB, WR, QB, TE, and OL to do whatever he wants vs any defense. It's actually unfair. People can say what they want, but this is 2019 offense all over again. It may not be 100% the same, but it's damn near close.

Problem with all this is that you lose everything but the OL and TE next year. Uber experienced, elite leader and all around playmaker at QB, your 3 best receivers by a mile, your 2 best blocking WRs, 3 of your 4 best RBs, and your 2 best pass blocking RBs. This was an offense 2 years in the making.

Only because he’s lacking experience. Coaches really need to be putting him under fire when they have opportunities to, like the last 5 minutes last night. Daniels took a pointless nasty shot to the knees trying to run for a first down when you could have had the backup QB in running out the clock. “BuT, mUh HeIzMuN!” Point being,

1. Why you hating on Daniels? If anything, kid at least deserves a heisman for dragging LSU by his massive balls this season.

2. It will be impossible to be better than Daniels. This is what Daniels numbers would be extrapolated over a 15 game Joe Burrow season;

Passing 73% 4916 yards 11.0 ypa 47 TD 6 int
Rushing 1103 rush yards 6.0 ypc 9 TD
Total 6016 yards 56 TD

Burrow would have 20 more total yards and 9 more total TDs

So basically, Nuss would have to be Joe Burrow.

There was a time whe the whiners were apoplectic about the OC and the QB.
