This is one of a few lackluster season opening wins that I can remember.
Great that lsu won but too close for comfort.
We were VERY fortunate to win that game. UNC had two catchable balls in the endzone to win that game.

Classic Les Miles. Totally dominate a team, then have to sweat out a win.
this game summed up les miles football
on paper lsu should have beat their arse
kinda like how kansas state put it on lsu in the bowl game, but his teams always played down to their competition
hated watching those lsu offenses

Really thought Russell Shepard was going to be an absolute freak that season after watching this game.

Stop torturing yourself. Watch '07 VT. You'll feel much better.

Good point, I think it pertinent to note that Les gave Crowton probably more freedom in 2007 than any coordinator before (Jimbo) or after - and after 2008 and the interception issues with Lee, he never gave any coordinator near as much freedom....to his demise.

Totally Agree. Typical Les Miles coaching. Big lead then 2 runs and incomplete pass for 6 straight drives then hanging on with the defense. Yeah i dont miss that.

I only remember drinking crown at the dome and not much of the game.

Anyone else notice as the safety Play with PP7 is going on—the espn news scroll bar below says “Notre Dane Kelly and FSU Fisher make their debuts”.
Sort of ironic and interesting how fast things come full circle in modern CFB.

I was at that game and sat on the UNC side. At halftime I felt like Custer in the men's room, as the punks from NC were all riled up. A couple of their fans tried to apologize, but I raised my voice and said "this is nothing, we play Florida every year".

Thanks for sharing this! This month, I've gone back and watched the big games from 2011 but I'd forgotten this one the year before.
3 Things stood out to me in these highlights.
1) Patrick Peterson was responsible for 8 points singlehandedly and reminded me that he simply was one of the best athletes to ever wear an LSU uni.
2) Honeybadger saved the day....well, until Ridley fumbled for the second time (which shocks me that he ever played again)
3) This was another the first in a long, long, line of games that Les and his inept offense and clock management somehow managed to pull off because his "Jimmys and Joes" were better than those of his opponent.

2010 and 2011 are two of my favorite defenses at LSU.
