I went to TCU, so my recommendations are Joe T Garcia's Mexican near the Stockyards north of downtown (cash only restaurant), Sundance Square downtown for bars, and Del Frisco's for a nice place to eat dinner (steak place). Joe T's has some killer margaritas, but get there early because the wait can be long if you have a big group.

Lots to do in the area, if you want a nice dinner I would recommend The Lonesome Dove Bistro, good BBQ go to Coopers, Rodeo Goat for burgers and brew. Really can’t go wrong with the amount of choices you have in Sundance and the stockyards.

Babe's is great fried chicken and family-style sides. Joe T's is overrated IMO. The ambiance is fantastic but the food isn't great. If you want some really good mexican food, you gotta hit the whole in the walls. Any BBQ joint will also be fantastic.

Chili's is pretty sweet. The wings at Hooters are great. But if you brought your good sweatpants, Golden Corral can't be missed.

Second or third the suggestions above for Lonesome Dove. I've eaten and the Austin Lonesome Dove twice in the last 2 months and it did not disappoint. The Ft Worth is the flagship restaurant.

I don't have a lot of experience in Ft. Worth but my favorite is Lonesome Dove by the Stockyards. I can recommend it highly.

I agree Joe-T's is overrated. Margaritas are great and put you on your arse but the food is meh. Really for the outside atmosphere.

Casual = Babes or Rodeo Goat
Fancy = Del Friscos or Reata

I drank many a beer at Cadillac and White elephant in the stockyards.

The Fort Worth museum of science and natural history is worth a look.

Fancy: Bonnels, Capital City Grill, B&B Butcher Shop
Causal: Heim’s Barbecue (they sell out), Rodeo Goat, Uncle Julio, Woodshed, Button’s

I was disappointed in Reata last time I went. They changed executive chefs. Joe T is for ambiance. Food is terrible.

Look up the Shops at Clear Fork. New, posh area.

Things to do - 4 day weekend ft worth zoo, top golf
