He won't get drafted nor make an NBA team, but there is no guarantee he would if he came back either. I know his family is supposedly in financial trouble, but making 60k playing in Kazakstan isn't going to provide much relief for his family. Would think another year of free education towards a degree would be more valuable. Ah well, best of luck to the kid.

I wonder how many schools lose marginal NBA prospects as often as LSU seems to

Besides the end of the year, he did have a great season.

And while the incoming freshman could make him look better, I could see where as an upper classman it wouldn't sit well to have a bunch of freshman come in and run the team.

Best of luck to Jordan, he was a great tiger and I hope he proves us all wrong.

I think the thread title should be renamed
"Jordan Mickey decides to forgo college basketball career for professional career"

Best of luck to him.

I don't understand how people around him would let him make such a terrible decision. At best he's an average d-league caliber player. Finish your free degree and become something while you have youth on your side, because basketball isn't in your future.

It's the complete opposite with Martin, he is a NBA caliber player and it's in his best interest to get to the league and begin his career earnings.

I may get criticized for saying this, but it's a wiser decision than I and most others are willing to admit.

He's a tweener 3/4 in the NBA, and LSU doesn't have the depth to give him any reps at the 3. Frankly, he probably regrets not leaving last season as his stock was higher.

I wish him the best and will admire him taking a leap of faith choosing Jones and LSU over his multiple offers. In the big picture he's made it trendy for blue chips to go to LSU over traditional powers

Not sure where all the optimism was coming from. He had "dropped his classes and was not attending team meetings" lol.

And I know, "just tigerdroppings rumors", but where do you think that kind of info would land if it was true? Classmates would tell freinds, as well as team mates telling freinds, and it would end up on tigerdroppings lol.

While not always completely true, this site does give you a better idea for the most part than bs generic press conferences and parent statements. It's a shame how many people get attacked for bringing what they have seen or been told, as that is the purpose of this site.

Spoke w/ Jordan Mickey. He hasn't hired an agent yet but plans to in short order. The salient quote: "I feel I'm a first-round player." #LSU

Someone is giving him bad information

maybe I'm in the minority but I don't think the line of thinking of, "he can't raise his stock any more by coming back" is a good reason.

There are plenty of players that aren't good enough for the NBA that can't raise their stock. Leaving after 2 years and not playing in the NBA isn't better than leaving after 4 years and not playing in the NBA.

He's passing up a huge opportunity to do something special at LSU next year with some amazing prospects, but I obviously wish him the best

Dude, James Wright is his brother. He's getting a sizable NFL paycheck. That family isn't in financial trouble.

Shouldn't the thread be titled: Jordan Mickey to enter Pakistani pro league draft?
Cause the dude isn't getting drafted by the NBA. He is getting some pretty bad advice. I wonder what the over/under is on him coaching AAU teams in 3 years?
Might as well declare for the NFL while he's at it. Makes no sense. Just laughably bad decision.
Bye Felecia!

When you have NO stock, it can only go up. He needs another year (maybe 2 to refine his game).

Also coming back and honing your game isn't just about getting drafted, it's developing the skills to stay in a league when you get there.

You people are pathetic. The kid is pursuing his dream of playing professionally. He likely knows he isn't getting drafted but he can go to the dleague or overseas for a few years and fine tune his game. Best of luck to him in his future endeavors and I'm thankful to him for his two years at LSU
